The 400 watts metal halides has this frequent occurence of ligths dimm and when replace the bulb, notice that the ballast or capcitator melts. hi bro,

The only time i encounter such problem (capacitor melts) is when the light set has poor ventilation that causes overheating. If you have this issue, i suggest that you purchase a capacitor with aluminium cover ( the ones i using is from Vossloh) which is able to withstand the heat. Since the heat comes from the MH bulb, why dont u house your ballast externally.....away from the bulb.

That will solve your problem.....:)

After a series of follow up. It was discover that the capacitator was placed too near the ballast causing the melting issues. Capacitator should be away at least 4 inches from the ballast. Must be lower to prevent heat accumulation if the capacitator was put high up in the casing.
