SRC Member rainbowdarter Posted January 6, 2013 SRC Member Share Posted January 6, 2013 Had read up some DIY on LED light. Need LED expert or guru to determind either the Lumen suitable or not. zonerx
i use something similar for my 3ft tank as secondary light, can switch colours with remote, just add more strips if want brighter.
vtecintegra
Fish only, anything ok. I think you might have to just try it and see how the soft corals react. I've never seen anyone use these on a tank as a main light.
zonerx
ya if fish only any light also can, but some light spectrum will enhance the colour of your fish or coral too.
adrian_ych
Bro see the other posts... I did help a friend DIY a 4 footer but his is a planted tank at 4 (L) x 2 (H) x2.5 (W). I really do not see the issue with brightness if you have more than a few strips. just that the LED white spectrum is lacking in some of the "blue". http://www.olympusmicro.com/primer/lightandcolor/lightsourcesintro.html Also I do not recommend getting the RGB or multi-color LED strips. Go to Sim Lim Tower B1 to see the strips for yourself....I think the websites are either not very updated or can be very confusing. So far I have gotten the 12V brighter "waterproof" ones....I do not really want to blind my fishes. http://www.ledprincess.com/pro-LED_Strips_LED_Strip_Lights-85.html http://illuminatingasiaspl.blogspot.sg/p/p4-led-strips.html
zonerx
actually some highend LED lights already using RGB LEDs, on all 3 you still get white with all color spectrum.
