xmas wrasse hiding in live sand

For a moment, I thought my wrasse had jumped out.

But the table is dry, cover has no trace of water ... then I realized that it had dug into the live sand.

How long are will it stay dug in?

Will keeping more than 1 pc in the same tank help?

Is there other tank Mate? Might be frighten thus hiding in the sand for wrasse. If they are new will take some time to adjust also. Does it come out during feeding time?

It is with a pair of clown and a camelback shrimp.

I came out once to feed.

Have not seen him for 2 days already.

Then should change name to Holiday Wrasse instead haha. I heard they burrow at certain times of day to rest

That's a good one ...

I am getting use to it. He will come out, eat, swim around a bit then .... vanish

Its been morn than a month already.

Its a Hoeven's wrasse actually.

I have added another female. They seems to have established a routine of coming out at day break then disappear into the sand after a few hours.
