Pump Advice

I am using a eheim pump to run water into my chiller. Am thinking of running a pipe direct from the tank into the pump and then out into the chiller. Since the water will be direct from the tank, it will not be filtered in anyway. Will the dirt from the tank clog the pump? thanks.

It will get clogged faster than if the water was drawn after the skimmer, but it should be fine with regular maintenance and flushing of the pipes. The only problem is that the chiller intake may become blocked by algae or snails.
