DI question

Recommended Posts

Is is possible for the TDS reading be higher than the tap water after going through the sediment and carbon filter?

I have modified my 3 stage DI filter to 2 more stages since I want to add sediment and additional carbon filter. My new setup is as follows.

1st stage - 10 microns wool sediment filter.

2nd stage - 10 micron carbon block filter.

3rd stage - 5 micron carbon block.

4th and 5th - DI resin.

Although the final output is zero TDS reading, but when I tested TDS before the DI resin. The Tds reading is 10 to 12 more than the tap water.

Does this means that after the carbon blocks stages my water is dirtier than the tap water? Is this possible?

Do you flush your carbon block? Mine did have the same issue.. then i reopen and realize here some leakage at my GAC.. its like stage 2 jump to stage 4..

Im.thinking to add RO filter.. maybe can complete as RODI

Ideally it is recommended to flush the carbon before using it with the DI as the dirt from the carbon will affect the TDS reading. The carbon that you use play a part as well, as some carbon is more dirty than the other ect.
