Setting up a qurantine tank

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am considering setting up a quarantine tank and is looking for best practices for reefers here. These are some of the equipment I am thinking about

1. Dymax 5 IOS tank with led light

2. air pump for improved oxygen when dosing medication

3.Bare bottom except for PVC pipes

Can anybody advise how their cool their quarantine tank? what is the temperature required ?

How long to keep the fishes in ? What are the medication required and any other equipment required.

Thanks !

Hi bro, that sounds ok already in my opinion. I use a small 5 gallon for quarantine also. I don't use cooling as well, so far it seems ok. Ambient temperature is about 29 degrees. Some reefers recommend at least a 2 feet tank but if your fish are small, should be no issue. Try to house at least 2 months, most parasites will show themselves within that period. I have copper medication on standby but so far never needed to use it
