Just notice got 2-3 those normal lobster hidden below the LR,my nice flat sand bed now become quicksand bed, those lobsters are digging all the sand out from the side of all LR until some of the coral sitting on the sandbed sink below the sand.Anyone got any idea how get rid or trap to catch them by not removing all my LR?If able to catch them i will peel off their skin and feed my fish

One big claw one small claw = pistol shrimp. ;)

Always something more important than fish.

I used to have pistol shrimp - claw is one big and one small. The pistol shrimp will carry those small pieces of gravel underneath rock and throws them out and you will normally see a pile of small rocks beside as if they are building a underground bungalow :D whereas the mantis will dig underneath without throwing any rocks out, as far as I know - used to have mantis shrimp in my tank.

Hopes that helps to differentiate.

Bro, should be pistol lah. Lobster lives in very deep and cold waters so will not last long in our tank too. :P

I have the pistol you describe, not not free. Have to pay $18 for it. :P So consider yourself "heng" ;)

Really bro, it is possible to let us have a glimpse of it? :D Please.......

All the while I thought they need low temp thus dun even dare to consider. Also, the impression I get is that lobsters are pretty big right?

By the way bro, where do you get them and how much? :D

Btw is good or bad hving pistol in our marine tank?

For me, I feel that pistol are a great addition to my tank, I like to see them re-docorating the rocks and subtrate. Also, due to there digging they will move and aerate the substrates. :D

Another thing that I like about pistols is the symbiosis relationship it has will shrimp gobies. When you introduce a shrimp goby to the pistol they will both pair up. They pistol will provide shelter for the goby while the goby will in return be the eye of the pistol as most pistols have very poor eyesights. ;)

Anyway, I just bought another pistol from ML yesterday evening, the red banded one. ($16). :yeah:

I belivee there is still pple selling at about $8. But in ML you pay slightly higher for the assurance, friendship plus service. ;)
