sunflower corals' strange behaviour

hihi reefer ,

i have a very nice sunflower coral but they only open up at night or when i on my blue actinic lighting ...

which mean when i on my 12000k dymax it will start to close up ... they are near to my lighting ...

is it normal ?? :o

Sun Corals require low lighting, preferably put them under the shade away from your MH (you mentioned you placed them high up near to your MH, place them at least on your sandbed, unless you wanna cook them). They also do better in an area of higher flow.

Also, they open up normally in the presence of food, and you will need to target feed individual polyps for long term success of the coral, they do not possess any zooanthellae and thus the target feeding..
