How did you clean your sump?

Dear all,

I have some dirt in my sump which I would like to remove but i cannot think of anyway except removing all the water from the sump and wiping it. Emptying all the water from the sump is very difficult.

For the main tank, I can easily siphon the dirt out but the sump is too low to do that.

Please share how you clean your sump.

I threw some crabs i caught from the main tank into the sump. Now its clean as a whistle

Its part of my water chgange regime. I change all the water in my sump and replace with freshly brewed saltwater.

Snails n crabs from the main tank was caught n employed in the sump tank.

Even algae for filteration is gone.

IMO, no requirement, the bacteria, crabs, worms will break down the detritus. Of cos siphoning is the fastest way to clean it.

By the way my sump is the most ugliest tank in the world . Its full of algea(micro/macro), tank wall and LR are covered with diatom, lots of mini coco worm and pods....

Must set up crab trap liao. So far have not seen any crab in my main tank.

Did anyone buy any invert for the purpose of cleaning sump?

i threw some zebra hermits into the sump and they clean the sump as well.
