Keeping Banggai Cardinals in Pairs

I am trying to keeping two banggai cardinals but one seems to bully the other. It's fins are now shredded and always hiding.

Found out from a friend that he too had a similar experience.

Does anybody know why this is happens?

Wondering if I should add in more for a bigger group. Mybe this will stop the bullying....

I kept 3 before and ended up with 1. I think something above 5 would be good.

Well, is best to keep only ONE or PAIR (Male & Female).

You may fact the same problem if you add more.

Once it get PAIRED up. It will start bullying again.

Having one paired b4, breed a few time.

Last time manage to save 1.

But get eaten by the father when I place it into the main tank

size abot 1/2 inches.

Normally the big one is male.

Will pyjamas cardinals face the same problem and must either keep only 1 or in pairs ?

Interesting replies. guess if there is bullying, most probably same ###### then. Both of mine were the same size.

Anyone have any idea how to identify the ###### other then by size. It would be easy if only one had bought the banggais in the same batch.

Guess I have to leave my banggai by it's lonely self. Just got back and found the other one stuck to my Seio!

I think look at the finnage....longer ones are male and the shorter ones are female.

i have two pajama and one banggai cardinals for the last six months, and are growing well. each of them very peaceful, hovering or moving around.

no problem with mine.

Not too sure about your pyjamas but having a single banggai could mean you won't have this problem.

Try adding another banggai! Most probably end up stuck to the filter.

(Kidding! Not suggesting this seriously)

Could be pyjamas are not as aggresive to each other.

Thanks! will try to see if can get the banggais sexed. Wouldn't it be simpler if they just had nuts and ######....
