Dear all,

i would like to setup a another new tank,i am quiry if the ANN cycle will occur or not if i take the live rock from my old tank and put it in..But using new filter..

So any advice on that..How can i setup the new tank to prevent the ANN cycle..as wat i mention takin the old live rock and put it in..With a sandbed of 4inches.

using cured liverocks will speed up the ANN cycle...maybe take a lesser time to complete...but definitely not immediately..

It will still have to go thru the ANN cycle but much faster only.

hw abt taking my old tank water and filled it half and with the old live rock?

There is no escape from the ANN cycle. Even you shift everything over.

As mentioned before the cycling time will be much shorter.

Maybe 2-3 weeks. But still better to use test kit to confirm.

it depends on individual system... for my case, i used 60-70 kg of cured LR (cured in an old tank for a month) and didnt experience any cycle at all. One day after adding LR, no NH4 or NO2 detected. Added a market prawn for 4-5 days.. again, no NH4 and NO2 detected.. i waited for another week before adding any LS... As suggested, best is to use a testkit..
