Where to place chiller pump?

Hi guys, where do u people place your chiller pump in? In the return pump compartment? or u guys use an external pump for your chiller?

what kind of chiller is recommanded for 4 X 2 X 2?

u either have it in sump or outside.

for me I used hailea in sump, although I can have it out of water too, but the pipings more troublesome dis way.

Try to put ur chiller pump at your last compartment where debris are minimum, else your chiller tubes will clog up fast and lose its cooling efficency.

If possible, use external pumps to reduce heat transfer to the water.

Here's how I do it. It's definately not the best setup, but just for your reference only. So, that u can have a better idea, and perhaps for sure come out something even better than what I'm having.

The in/out have a valve each to control the flow, as well as to stop the water from siphoning out during disconnection which is not shown here.

Forget to addon some details.

Do note:-

The vent 'A' (behind the vent is the condensor coil) of the chiller where hot air will be drawn from the front and blown out through here. Hence, the space 'B' is needed for the hot air to escape as fast as it can.

The pump is also intensionally shift off centre of the whole vent 'A', so that the hot air will not increase the pump temperature and spoil it. In fact, as the air is forced through the vent and away, it did provide some cooling to the pump.

As i mentioned before, I am heartache but have no choice to buy Elheim pump because of its proven ability of working well out of water, as also from popular comment. Other brand of similar reputation may cost even more, if I'm not wrong.

Using 1250 => 1200L/H.

I got 2 valves to fine tune the flow. So, just nice.

1 grade lower => 600L/H will be too weak liao.

cuz i realise chiller inlet and outlet all in the sump, so its job is to chill the sump instead of the tank. Am i right to say that?

just make sure the water going out is at a compartment that's further down ur water flow direction from ur water being drawn... this is to prevent 'short-circuit'...

Should be tank + sump size, i think. BTW, in my case, the in/out from the chiller is direct from the tank. Also, the output of the chiller should go directly back to the tank, hence, all pump r install before chiller.

IMHO, hardly heard any thing. Can only feel it vibrate.

Sure! In fact that's the recommended 1. Dun need extra pump too, just connect the return line into the chiller then to tank. Simple n also ensure clean water into the chiller. I didn't do it because feel that my pump not that strong. So, for my case, the chiller should have quite a lots of deposit of debris already.
