Need Help !! regarding what to do during power cut

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Again the pesky maintainance crew is back at my block. The last time they cut the power was when I had my 2 footers so things were not so bad but now...sigh(

Anyway could I get some ideas what to do ? The power will be cut from 0830 to 1750 hrs . I have 3 battery air pumps...1 for my 5 feet aro tank and 2 for the 3 feet marine tank...anything else I should do ?

I'm particularly afraid the bacteria in the overflow ( I have bioballs there ) will die due to the long break.

Please give some ideas as to what I should do....any bros have a generator to borrow for a few hrs ? ( just kidding )

I've decided to stay home the entire period so keep those suggestions coming..I have a few leathers, a gonio and mushrooms as of now :)

Cheers and Thanks in advance

Seems like a good suggestion but I don't think I'll be able to get one as yet.

Any bros have any power sources that I can rent or borrow ?

It'll be used for only a few hours as the last time the crew came they cut power from 0830 to around 2 in the afternoon.

Do pm me if you are able to help

Cheers

usually it only takes less than 2 hrs to restore the power... the timin is quoted as a worst scenario, i tink...

i tink batt operated air pump is sufficient to generate some flows n air exchange if it's less than 2 hrs....

btw, dun get those UPS for computers, they may not work due to the type of wave they generate :)

Its the type where you attach an airline from the unit to the tank :) I'm planning on using 2 for the marine tank

is that a reply to my question?

i'm act asking bout ur bioballs, not ur air pump... :P

if all ur bioballs r submerged inside water, then the bacterias shld be able to last thru the few hours...

those bacterias may not last that long for those on the dry area ( if ur filtration is a wet/dry filtration system) but shldnt be a prob if since u r supposed to hav beneficial bacteria in ur sandbed n liverocks wat... btw, if u hav been having high nitrate probs n suspect it's the use of the bioballs, it may be a gd opportunity for u to remove them partially... u may even consider changing ur water during that time :)
