Sump dimension

I am planning my setup now and asking for advice. For a 4feet main tank. If i were to have a 2.5feet sump(0.5 feet for fresh water reservoir topup). Does anyone know whether do i have space left or not to put a pail for purpose of mixing salt water for water change?

What is the correct recommended dimension for each chamber in the sump?

Can the expert here please help me?

A quick draw of the sump I am making now. I think yr .5 feet freshwater may be too small..... I am doing mine 2 feet high plus 1 feet wide - should last me almost week without re-top up.

But note my tank stand is 3 feet high so I can afford a 2 feet high sump. Most tanks stand are shorter.
