Micro bubbles

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am currently cycling my new 3ft x 2.5 x 2.5 feet tank with a 2ft sump.

I notice that there are micro bubbles floating all over my tank.

Anyway to remove or reduce its occurance?

Please advise.

Add 4 layers of baffle plates in your sump.

Microbubbles can be created by:

1) Skimmer

2) Return pump

3) New pippings

Baffles = Additional plates in a sump placed in a way to reduce bubbles.

Solution:

1) Skimmer: place skimmer outflow before baffles or add more baffles or tie a stocking at the outflow of the skimmer.

2) Return pump: Gently shake the return pump to release trap bubbles.

3) New pippings: New pipings usually will have some air trap within that will dissipate after running for a week or two. Inspect all joints to ensure that they are siliconed properly, if not reapply silicon and wait a few more days.

Hope that helps. ;)

Take a light and shine onto the sump see where is the source of the micro bubbles then try to eliminate it.

Most likely it is because by your beckett producing too much micro bubbles, this can be fixed by install baffles of suitable width in your sump.

Using foam to kill the bubbles might cause flooding when they are dirty.

Solution 1 : What eric says is true use Baffles

or use solution one with the addition of coffee filter bag( made of clothe)

get it from hardware shop. buy two pcs at least and tie it to the out of your skimmer or where u see the water gushing down. use a cable tie or appropriate material.
