Material for top filter.

Hi all,

I have a 4ft X 2ft X 1.5ft marine fish only tank.

I plan to use a top trickle filter for filtration.

I already have a eheim 2213 running and 2 inches of crushed coral sand.

Need to know when would be the best filter media for the top trickle filter.

Are Bio Balls a good option? one source suggested only to use filter foam.

Kindly advise.

Do you think a combination of bioballs and filter wool would be a good option?

it will be better if u add in some glass rings....at least the bacteria gt some place 2 home and ph will somehow be maintained

bro, why don't you consider a sump instead. a lot of bros here started with a canister and then shift to sump. many uses the DIY U-Tube overflow concept and it seems to work fine.

some bros here could give you advise on this.

So would bio balls be the best option?

So say that there is an ammonia and nitrate problem if they get dirty.

What if i keep them under the sponge and filter wool layer so not to allow any dirt to accumulate on them?
