this round of coe prices really tempting me to scrap my car and get my dream car (at the moment) SUV .. toyota fortuner!

being a 1st time car owner, there's some noob questions i hope u bros wouldn't mind helping me with :P

say my parf & coe rebate value when scrap is ard 40k and my outstanding loan is 50k.

does this mean that i would have to fork out at least 10k++ even though i trade in my car?

looking for the cheapest way to get my dream car la :P

anyone willing to explain to me how this parf/coe rebate thingy works? :thanks:

Suggest u call the finance to check the full settlement amount...

Den go to LTA/one-motoring website to check your scrap value... normally u can sell the car for a few k above the scrap value... :)

Any recommendations for a continental car under 80k?

Continental cars that are below $80k.......

1) Opel Astra

2) Ford Focus

3) Renault Megane

4) Citroen C4

5) VW Polo

6) VW Golf (at 91k)

7) Peugeot 307

I oso looking for one, but my budget is 70k and below....... :P

If possible, i will go for the Golf, but over budget......looks like Astra comes next! Any suggestion, anyone?

:thanks:

hmmm... will do my sums and hopefully can afford.

i thought the fortuner was very popular when launched with many units booked.

but how come seldom see on the roads?

another thing is that since it's so high, scared cannot enter some carparks...

framerunner, i second stabilo's vote for the golf! one sweet car!

hybrid car?

The upfront payment so high.

Somemore rd tax calculated based on KW ouput of the 2 engine combined.

Goverment not making it attractive for pple to buy.

I think the main issue is not about going green in such a economic climate ... it is about cutting cost ...

Maybe they should reconsider diesel engine car in singapore ...but then again .. the government is going to lose so much revenue due to diesel tax about 8 to 9 times of a normal petrol car ...

Hybrid car will not happen so fast .... due to high cost - not like in the US .. the government go all out to give real benefit for pple using Hybrid technology ... recently the govenment effort to double the existing benefit is still not attractive enough ... why a half hearted effort !!!

The next closest thing is to bang on car running on compressed gas as they are so cheap .....but then it is not green at all ... ;)

Your car registered in Jul 2001 so it is with the old PARF where cars less than 5 yrs old have PARF of 130% OMV.

Your PARF value of $13270 is the min. PARF which is 80% of your OMV.

Your car is 51 months old now.

PARF = 130% OMV = $22295

COE rebate for unused portion = $15087

Your paper value is $37382

Plus body around $4000

Total = $41382.

You can expect trade-in value around there.

You can check the exact paper value on http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/
