For lighting, what does PL stands for? Know that FL stands for fluorescent.

Plse help on the following:

a. PL vs Fl, which is better for a 4 ft FOWLR tank?

b. for PL & FL respectively, if the space can only accomodate 3 ft tube and if i wish to upgrade to 10,000k tube -----

i. how many daylight tube and actinic tube are required

ii. what are the watt?

iii. can i still use the existing 20W electronic ballasts to run the 10,000k tube?

iv. what are the reliable brands for PL & FL daylight and actinic tubes?

v. where can i go to have a good selection of light tubes?

:thanks:

Pl is power compact from what i heard in the forum.

Pl is stronger then FL but for a FOWLR tank FL shoud be enough

to accomodate your space of 3 tubes options are as follow:

2atinic+1 daylight

1actinic + 1daylight

1 actinic + 2 daylight

FME the first two are a better options

the last one is too yellowish!

Arcadia or coralife(for PL dunno got FL anot pls check with Ocean Planet) or Zoomed coral sun(actinic) tropic sun (daylight ) or reef sun(50% actinic+50% daylight) check for more info with SL for zoomed tubes

prices are as follow

arcadia tubes ranges frm $20-$40+

corallife ???

zoomed $41;$20;$45 respectively as above(price of this taken frm EAN)

i dunno much about ballast but experts like Tanzy can answer u Try PMing him!
