Where to get nice mp3 player

friend wants to get one... i'm a tech idiot, know nothnig about mp3 players. so hoping to get some direction here!!

Eh .. nice mp3 for below 100 ..

Hmm .. for good sound quality .. there's actually creative n iriver n apple ..

But yea .. among these 2 brands i only know of creative having a 128mb muvo at around $100. I not sure if iriver hav one below $100.

Eh .. u can try looking at the news papers as creative do hav factory sales ( usually date not fixed ) n the prices r lesser compared to normal times.

Or if u want .. there's the computer show coming up .. its one 9 to 12 march .. can go n grab some good deals there.

There's always the option of looking arnd simlim sq for the market price of the different products so at least u roughly know if the deal u will b getting is a good deal .. do check out serveral shops b4 committing.

actually, there are primarily 2 types of mp3 players in the market

1) Flash-based memory players

These usually have less storage than the 2nd type, but have the ability to accompany the user during jogging or exercise, since flash memories can withstand shocks. If not brand conscious, SLS actually have quite a number of selection for cheap china-brands mp3 player. Most famous of the flash based players would be the iPod Nano, comes in 2GB and 4GB

2) Harddisk-based players

Higher storage, but cannot be shaken rigourously as comapred to type 1. Usually stores up to 5GB, or 20-60GB as in the iPods.

Famous brands would be iPod, Creative, iRiver(i am using iRiver H10)

Yea .. bro somebody .. mayb u can get ur fried to increase his budget. Cos at $100 n below there isnt any good mp3 players available. n if i m not wrong the max capacity of player one can find would b 128mb for that price.

Hmm .. bro honda .. i think china brands not so advisable la .. so far here is how i rank the 3 big brands according to sound quality

1. iRiver

2. Creative n Apple (both companies hav abt the same sound quality)

Those china brands r no where near them .. even some heard of brands like packard bell (got one free with my desktop purchase) hav sound quality so different from those 3 mentioned above.

*comparision made using the same set of ear phones

Yea .. also must consider the type of ear-phones provided .. cos it plays a big part too ..

yeah i usually skipped past all the china brands, bought one before, sound quality is plain, nothing much to wow about

actually creative boast a better sound quality?(Zen Micro) lots of ppl commented that they are good too, but downside is the poor built quality

am currently enjoying the iRiver, but the price is on the high side, considering the iPod 20GB is just a bit more expensive

for earphones, i believe pay more for quality, am currently using ######-EX81 from sony, cost 70 bucks per pair if i didnt remember wrongly

some hardcore audiophiles are even willing to spend 200+ for some other brands of earphones

Yea .. thinking of getting that pair of ear phones too .. juz that now no $ .. juz blew $600 + on my first tank

Hmm .. u refering to shure earphones? .. They come with built in woofer .. n i heard almost all their modals r rated to produce the same sound quality as wad the actual recording was (as in when it was done in the studio)

Yea .. u can try creative or iRiver flash disk players should hav a few within the $100 range .. but yea .. the hard disk one is really off budget for $100 .. n as for Apple .. not really advisable to get the ipod shuffle (the only version below $100) .. it doesnt come with a screen .. hav to try n error b4 u get to the song u wanna hear .. so yea .. if u get irritated listening to songs without knowing wad's it name or cant get to hear the song that u want to, leave the shuffle out ..

Hmm .. if the date is not so near .. can head down to the IT show .. there should hav de whole range .. hmm .. mayb can increase the budget to $150 or $200 .. like that i think can get up to 512mb or even 1gb.
