which pump is better?

hi there

my return pump which i using for almost two years on my 110gal tank is having some hiccup. (some time cannot on back after switching off).

mine is the Quiet One HH4000 which has a flow rate of 980gal/h, can i change to a lower flow rate like eihem 1260 (635gal/h)? will it cause problem? cause my quiet one pump a bit too strong for my narrow 5'x1.5'x2'(H) tank, quite hard to place my coral. any advised?
