Brunei
This is the main colony. The previous pic was broken off piece from the main colony while in transit Got heaps of starfish and other critters hitch-hiking on this coral Have to use tweezers to pull them out. SRC Member iantoh Posted March 20, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted March 20, 2006 hi there bro brunei, wow! what a fruitful fishing trip man! my dad once fished out a stylaster coral frag on a fishing trip, and it was a gorgeous purple colour, but he took it home dry, and it was dead by the time i received it. sigh... as for your gonios, well, do you test your parameters? how are your nitrates? and is there decent flow? sometimes, too much flow will inhibit polyp extension, but too little flow might not be good too as waste removal is impeded. gonios are notoriously difficult because they are not able to meet their carbon budget through photosynthesis alone, so need to consume alot in way of external feedings. so inorder for them to have sufficient energy to stay alive (not talking about growing), they already need more than just light. and considering they are usually found in phyto and plankton rich waters, youd have to feed them. perhaps try feeding some oyster eggs if you can get a hold of some? theyre super foods, though add alot to the tank's nutrients though. cheers bro, and best wishes for your gonios. ian Quote My Goniopora Nano! FuEl
Came across these 2 sites with regards to goniopora care. Hopefully they are of help. Think it was mentioned that dosing iron and manganese seem to encourage polyp extension. Brunei
Thanks bro Fuel. I kinda lost hope for my gonios of ever extending their polyps again.. Anyway, will try to change water this week end.. Will changing half of the water cause any adverse effect on my LS? Also i cant change much as my clams are placed on the very top part of the rocks...dont want it to coem in contact with air. Thanks bro fuel for the info. cheers... A pic of my tank..
