soft coral to reduce pollution

just heard from a experienced reefer that coral such as zoanthids and yuma, florida and mushroom does help to reduce the pollution ie nitrate and phosphate.. in the water .

how true is it ?

can anyone verify this or otherwise ?

I clicked on the URL and read the linking page; it doesn't seemed to be a study to me. (What was the topic of the study? the method of the study and the result?)

Its merely a write-up on Florida Keys and some layman explanation of hard corals versus soft corals, and how "soft corals have no symbiotic relationship with zooxanthellae.... ".

I laughed at how the writer said :

"The zooxanthellae also SOMEHOW encourage the coral polyps to secrete calcium carbonate, and this is what makes the hard basis of the reef, the skeleton....

wat a "somehow"...
