"smoking" green buttons - is it normal?

i have a some green polps for almost a week now.... for the past two days i notice that it has been emitting some air/small particles out at times... my clown would go near and sniff it for while when it happens. no livestock has died due to the "smoke".

would like to find out from you guys if u know if it's common?

Zooxanthids don't spawn like that...they reproduce by asexual budding.

i was under the impression that budding is the most common form of reproduction in corals like mushrooms, anemones, though they do spawn once in a while to enhance the gene pool. But then again i don't quite remember reading anything about Zoanthus sp. spawning so you may have a point.

even if they are spawing the larvae probably won't survive in the system. So long as they aren't producing anything that is bad for your tank you should be fine.
