thedidavid
Hi, Is it necessary to get protein skimmer for 24g Nano Cube? During this cycling period, I bought testing set to check pH, Amonia, Nitrite and Nitrate is enoughh? Do I need to check the calcium content on the water? Thanks Quote RED SEA MAX - BLACK, JBJ ARCTICA DBA-075, HYDOR PRIME 30, VORTECH MP10

contrails
I have the same cube too. If you plan to have the hood on and turn on the lights the temperature is going to get very hot. The 2 fans on the top is not enough to cool it down. I also think you need a skimmer, unless you plan to keep very few live stock and change water very often.....which is quite impractical. thedidavid
Yes, I got up to 34 deg C if the light is on, therefore I installed a chiller by modify the hood for cooling hose access and additional one 1000 l/hr Hydor pump. I amusing the ooriginal skimmer comes with the cube, but I am thinking on th e possibility to add hanging skimmer. SRC Member sky Posted July 21, 2007 SRC Member Share Posted July 21, 2007 Hi, any skimmer would fit into this nano cube??? cheers
bernards
Hi David, I bought a skimmer from nanotuners.com. Cost about 100 odd USD. Quite expensive for such a small skimmer. No choice if you want to keep the aesthetics. The skimmer works alright. The pump is kinda noisy, it's the loudest piece of gear in my setup. It's still acceptable though. A skimmer like this can be made locally for a fraction of the price. The design is a very common design anyway.
thedidavid
Bernanrd, Thanks for the info. What brand are you using now? I am still waiting for my Fssion Nano Skimmer to be deliverd from USA, it cost half what you use now. I am not planning to run my skimmer 24 hours, I will install timer. Cheers, David Quote RED SEA MAX - BLACK, JBJ ARCTICA DBA-075, HYDOR PRIME 30, VORTECH MP10

thedidavid
Yo,bro david.. waiting for the skimmer.. you won't turn the skimmer on 24hrs? y? Hi Sky, I got advice to stop the skimmer when puring additives and food to the tanks. So I think I will run the skimmer during day time, stop at night. Anyway I invert my lighting time, my main light is on around 11 PM and off at 9 am. thedidavid
david, invert ur light? smart move.. think i have to do like this too.. usually at night i on my moon light only.. cheers I inver t the time because at day time the light will heat up the water up t 34c before I have the chiller. This also to prevent the chiller kicking too often in the day time, to save electricity. The skimmer from nanotuners.com that you are using, how is it? Thought of getting one myself for my JBJ Nano 12G.
