The next day we went out to Knuckle Reef on the Great Barrier Reef. We went on the big boat "Seaflight".

Seaflight took 2.5 hours to get to Knuckle Reef lagoon.

There is a pontoon on Knuckle reef lagoon for tourists. The pontoon took 10 months and A$1.2m to construct and was towed by tug boats to the site and the pontoon was deployed on 28 Sep 2004.

Knuckle Reef is located about 54 nautical mile from Airlie beach.

The pontoon is moored to the seabed by a series of chains with concrete blocks and anchors. The water depth under the pontoon is between 9-14m

The pontoon is currently 45m long, 12m wide and 6m high with a total area of 700 sq m. The deck material is made of Aluminum and steel. It weighs 135 tonnes and uses buoyancy tubes to float.

Only 350 people are allowed on the pontoon

The pontoon is covered with toilets and tables and chairs for dining. U can scuba dive, snorkel. lie in the sun, or just swim.
