SRC Member teebs Posted October 21, 2009 SRC Member Share Posted October 21, 2009 yup.. almost 800+ litres of water.. i going to stock approx half first.. so how much salt will i need? what salt to go for? tropic marine pro reef, oceanic, ME? any suggestion? How are you going to stock 400L+ of water? 20 jerry cans??? Your bathroom will be full of jerry cans... 10kg of salt will make approx 250-300L of salt water... so you will need ard 30-40kg of salt... I have only used Reefmax and Tropic Marin Pro Reef. In terms of solubility, Reef Max is better. Price wise, Reef Max is much cheaper. My tank not running yet..... how many times must i tell you LOL. I have a box of leftover ME salt from my previous tank. kept in the storeroom for donkey years already. I remember that they dissolves quite easily. I might be wrong hor... just let the bros correct me if I am. Actually I think all the reputable salt about the same especially if you are going to dose additives / trace elements. (I know by saying this, you will go around asking.... what additives should i get arh??? Hehehe) just make sure you get those salt that dissolves easily. But you are quite an interesting character. I remember I start my tank 20 years ago, LFS sell me what salt, I blur blur just buy. Nvr check so much... Of course that time dun have SRC. But it is good that you ask, show that you care. So keep firing away.... Maybe Mod can pinned this up in starters forum. All newbies can read through this as a startup guide. hehe. Anyway i will search more Bro I feel that way too. For me, it is better to do my own research so that i make my decision based on facts/views I can find online. Some of your questions revolve ard which one is better, the truth is, everyone will have their own thoughts. These are already well documented not only in this forum, but elsewhere too. By reading up on them, you learn more, and eventually don't need to ask so many questions. At the same time, many other factual questions, you can also find them easily. At the end of the day, I'm sure we all agree that we want to grow in this hobby. And a little initiative to research and read up goes a long way into that.
