Maintaining Of Equipement.

Hi guys, wonder do we have to maintain or how do we maintain our reef equipement?

E.g the return pump, skimmer n the pump of the skimmer.

Hear say must use vinegar to soak the item in to remove calcium. True? How?

And how often we do that? Is once every 3 months sufficient?

Thanks...

i doubt most ppl bother to take out the return pump to wash... unless something happens... well, for me, i just empty the cup of the skimmer whenever i see it filling up...

i only used the vinegar trick once on a used wave maker, trust me its really effective!

sometimes there's coraline algae / or unwanted algae on the wavemaker.

What you can do is buy those normal cooking vinegar, mixed with water (i used 1/5 of it for a small pail filled with water).

put the wavemaker inside the mixed vinegar + water pail.

leave it to soak for 1 day - the smell is

after 1 day of soaking, rinse it with tap water and scrub it with tooth brush/brush, it will come off quite easily.
