Bar Goby
Ptereleotris zebra
Ptereleotris zebra (Fowler 1938), the Chinese Zebra Goby. Schooling fish, needs places to hide in. Can be shy in the beginning and eventually come out and be friendly. All over metallic green body with contrasting colored stripes makes this timid but beautiful dither fish an excellent choice for a reef. Keeping two or three will make them less timid. Will accept most foods.
Maximum Size: the Ptereleotris zebra grows up to 4 inches.
Minimum Tank Size: The Bar Goby prefers a tank of at least 20 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim.
Diet: The Ptereleotris zebra is a carnivore and likes to eat brine & mysid shrimp and other meaty treats (a few times/day).
Level of Care: The Bar Goby is a low maintenance fish.
Behavior: The Bar Goby may act peacefully toward other fish.
Hardiness: This is a hardy fish.
Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 – 1.025, pH 8.1 – 8.4, Temp. 72 – 78 F).
Range: Indo-Pacific.
Breeding: Able to breed.
