Euxiphipops xanthometapon
Three of the most beautifully striking of the marine angelfishes are classified as the members of the genus Euxiphipops (“yukes-if-ih-pops”). The striking colors of the Blueface Angel make this one of the more sought after Angels available. Although it is a shy species, needing lots of various hiding places and will adapt more readily than the adults. Adults are better kept in fish only systems, and it is not recommended to keep them with other Angels, due to its peacefulness.
Maximum Size: the Euxiphipops xanthometapon grows up to 15 inches.
Minimum Tank Size: The Blueface (Juv) prefers a tank of at least 100 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim.
Diet: The Euxiphipops xanthometapon is a omnivore and likes to eat Omnivore. Primarily feeds on sessile Invertebrates, Algae, Sponges, and Tunicates. Should be offered a captive diet high in protein, with Sponge material i.e. Ocean Nutrition Angel Formula.
Level of Care: The Blueface (Juv) is a medium maintenance fish.
Behavior: The Blueface (Juv) may act semi-aggressively toward other fish.
Hardiness: This is a fairly hardy fish.
Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 – 1.025, pH 8.1 – 8.4, Temp. 72 – 78 F).
