Half Black Angel
Centropyge vroliki
Centropyge vroliki (Bleeker 1853), the Pearl-Scaled or Half-Black Dwarf Angel, is one of my standard, “marine aquarium service account species”. Very hardy. Closely related to and hybridizes with Centropyge flavis. Able to get along with other Pygmy Angels in a tank of at least 75 Gallons or more, due to territoriality. Closely resembles the Eibli Angel, which it does occasionally hybridize with. The Half black is a hardy species that can be kept either in a community tank or in a Reef type tank. |
Maximum Size: the Centropyge vroliki grows up to 5 inches. Minimum Tank Size: The Half Black Angel prefers a tank of at least 40 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim. Diet: The Centropyge vroliki is a omnivore and likes to eat marine algae, mysid shrimp, Spirulina, and other meaty treats. Level of Care: The Half Black Angel is a medium maintenance fish. Behavior: The Half Black Angel may act semi-aggressively toward other fish. Hardiness: This is a fairly hardy fish. Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 – 1.025, pH 8.1 – 8.4, Temp. 72 – 78 F). Range: Western Indo-Pacific, and throughout the Indo-Australian Archipelago |
