Halechores Melanarus
The Halechoris melanarus or Melanarus Wrasse requires a sandbed of 2 inches or deeper. Will likely act peacefully toward other fish and has been rumored to do a great job at cleaning up flatworms, or planaria. Provide sufficient sand to burrow. May attempt to jump.
Maximum Size: the Halechores Melanarus grows up to 6 inches.
Minimum Tank Size: The Melanarus Wrasse prefers a tank of at least 50 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim.
Diet: The Halechores Melanarus is a carnivore and likes to eat chopped meats, small invert (amphipods & foraminiferans), live feeder shrimp, worms.
Level of Care: The Melanarus Wrasse is a medium maintenance fish.
Behavior: The Melanarus Wrasse may act peacefully toward other fish. Not venomous.
Hardiness: This is a relatively hardy specimen
Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 – 1.025, pH 8.1 – 8.4, Temp. 72 – 78 F).
Range: Indo-Pacific.
