Gobies may sometimes attempt jump out. Prefer presence of substrate. Gobiosoma oceanops (Jordan 1904), the Neon Goby. Very popular, and renowned for its hardy attributes, the Neon Goby is a colourful addition to almost all tanks. If provided with plenty of shelter, this peaceful fish will happily mate and spawn in a well-maintained aquarium. Neon gobies will often set up a ‘station’ and keep fish clean of parasites and dead scales.
Maximum Size: the Gobiosoma oceanops grows up to 2 inches.
Minimum Tank Size: The Neon Goby prefers a tank of at least 20 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim.
Diet: The Gobiosoma oceanops is a carnivore and likes to eat brine & mysid shrimp and other meaty treats.
Level of Care: The Neon Goby is a low maintenance fish.
Behavior: The Neon Goby may act peacefully toward other fish.
Hardiness: This is a hardy fish.
Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 – 1.025, pH 8.1 – 8.4, Temp. 72 – 78 F).
Range: the Caribbean.
Breeding: Able to breed.
