Queen Angel
Holacanthus ciliaris |
|
| Holacanthus ciliaris (Linnaeus 1758), the Queen Angelfish. A true queen of fishes.Full size angels should not be mixed with other full size angels, unless it is in a tank of at least 180 gallons. Like its cousin the Blue Angel, the Queen Angel is a very popular species known for its bright coloration, and hardiness. The Queen Angel is similarly shaped to the Blue Angel, but the coloration is pretty different. In the Queen Angel the yellows and blues are much brighter, and the borders are finer as well. Juveniles can be distinguished by the coloration, and the color patterns as well. Like its cousin though, the Queen Angel is not a good candidate to mix this Angel with other Angels, except in very large Aquaria. As mentioned with the Blue Angel, the Queen Angel will sometimes hybridize with its close cousin the Blue Angel. |
