Gramma loreto
| There are but a couple of grammatids that are highly prized in the aquarium hobby. Gramma loreto, the Royal Gramma, is the Basslet or Gramma to many. Colorwise, it’s front half varies from purple to violet, with the back half a bright yellow. Prefers overhangs and caves and tends to be nocturnal, retiring during the daylight photo period until it adjusts to the tank. |
| Maximum Size: the Gramma loreto grows up to 3 inches. Minimum Tank Size: The Royal Gramma prefers a tank of at least 20 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim. Diet: The Gramma loreto is a carnivore and likes to eat variety of foods, especially meaty treats (fish & crustaceans). Level of Care: The Royal Gramma is a low maintenance fish. Behavior: The Royal Gramma may act peaceful (but may become territorial)ly toward other fish. Hardiness: This is a hardy fish. Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 – 1.025, pH 8.1 – 8.4, Temp. 72 – 78 F). Range: the Caribbean. |
