Sargocentron xantherythrum

With it’s red metallic coloration against the vivid white striping, the Striped Squirrel is an excellent and attractive addition to a peaceful Fish Only system. Very hardy and can be kept singly but prefers schools. Provide overhangs and caves. Do not handle this fish with a net as it can be easily damaged by the material. May eat ornamental shrimps and sand-dwelling worms. Prefers a dimly lit tank.

Maximum Size: the Sargocentron xantherythrum grows up to 7 inches.

Minimum Tank Size: The Striped Squirrelfish prefers a tank of at least 60 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim.

Diet: The Sargocentron xantherythrum is a carnivore and likes to eat variety of chopped meats, feeder shrimp.

Level of Care: The Striped Squirrelfish is a low maintenance fish.

Behavior: The Striped Squirrelfish may act peacefully toward other fish.

Hardiness: This is a hardy fish.

Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 – 1.025, pH 8.1 – 8.4, Temp. 72 – 78 F).

Range: Sri Lanka, Maldives.
