you need a fan, a better skimmer.

And get rid of those Bio-cube to put in some SeaChem matrix/Denitrator or Bio Homme. Clean your first layer sponge in canister often.

yap i agreed :D

have to get a beeter skimmer.. :)

will save you lots of problems in future... :P

personally myself started with the air driven type... the performace is way too lousy.. DOc in the water was so high that have to change water alomost every 3 ~ 4 days... a better skimmer helps alot on the water conditions...

afan to bring down the temperture but will encounter water evaporation at veri fast rate... therefore if possible.. have a small horse power chiller...( hmm maybe a resun 280 shall be more than enough for a 2 feeter ) .. this will save you much problems on the water evaporation issue and sg issue...

if possible to rum some carbon too in near furture.. cos you may encounter ur water will start to have a yellow colour which hmm to me looks veri un natural and ugly ...

hpe it helps...

cheers :D

here, you could use this:

http://saltaquarium.about.com/cs/fishinver...quariumtrap.htm

Coralife sells one too, if you are not into diy

Hi hotlemond,

Yes, I've seen the DIY at saltaquarium.about.com before.

May I know where is Coralife?

But, I got too many of those worms, so, I'm considering to increase the salinity to 1.04 to kill everything then restart again... :cry2:

Thank You.

So how much u spend total bro plus all the other accessories? And where is this Aquamarin?

Hi koala_rav,

For cost wise, it all depends on your budget lor.

Visit some LFS, have a feel on the pricing, see for yourself the type of aquarium available (Fish only, FOWLR, Reef etc.).

Do some research in this forum to see what you need, some essential, while others, optional.

Can’t advice you much, as I’m also new in marine aquarium.

Aquamarin is at Jalan Kayu.

Click here for Aquamarin in SRC.

Hey prime prime,

One of my friends got the same set up as yours. He bought it from Jan too.

I believe you dint wanna spend alot that's why Jan intrroduce you the dymax skimmer and lighting right?

IMO, you can complete your cycle first before any upgrade of exisiting equipment. If this is meant to be a fish only tank then the kind of equipment should be alright.

The only upgrade my friend did was a prizm skimmer. It has been closed to a year and all his fishes is swimming happily in there. So no worries! ;)

my 2 cents worth, seachem denitrat doesnt work , prefer bio ball.

happy reefing! :peace:

Hi,

Notice some grey patches on sand bed this morning (on the 5th day of cycling), I suppose its algae?

Should I ignore, switch off the lighting (on from 7 pm to 1 am) or get a power head/wave maker?

Please advice.

Thank You.

Hi primeprime,

Try not to have too many electricals submerge in the water. They will cause water temp to go up.

If you intend to get a chiller, get a more powerful one so dat it doesn't need to kick in so often.

Floating hydrometer doesn't work well, always give the wrong reading.

And yeah!! you need a better skimmer. Not forgetting a nice sofa right infront of your tank :lol::lol:

:peace:
