  1. Hi Leslie, Point noted that is why I thought kiko's idea might be a good one... It depends on the date they join rather than the post counting...

Yeah, Terry I think Kiko's idea is quite good.. but my point is why bother to restrict them from selling? Does it mean if someone sell and then next day they quit SRC we do not welcome them? Also, even if they are new, doesn't mean the products they sell is no good. We are not talking abt LFS or Mass sales, Bulk buy etc afterall. So it's really a willing seller, willing buyer situation.

  2. I think it's difficult to prevent... For me, I think the mods and the rest of us cannot be NANNY to everyone. Most of us buy/sell things based on Price, Reputation as well as personal experience. Like for instance, most of us will not buy expensive stuffs without inspecting it.

EVen if we have all the pre-caution in place, you may still buy "lemons" or you may be plain unlucky.

A lot of these sellers, they are probably those who doesn't post but may be surfing SRC for years. When it's time to decom, i don't see why they should be penalised just because of their inactivity. Just let them sell, end of the day, the price, condition of the equipment will determine if it's good deal.

  3. Good good, as long as it is out swimming, it should be fine. All the best. :groupwavereversed:

MY, GA and PBT both :rip: liao...

GA prob from not eating.. PBT not sure as suddenly got ich and white patchy spots on body, so maybe is parasites.. It was eating greedily and swimming and very active then suddenly die. :(

  4. Cool guys... I will check out petmart this weekend, may another hunt for a iceprobe.

Always believe the spirit of sharing.

Sorry TS, I am hijacking your thread. (no offence)

For Pico, you may not need iceprobe (too costly also). try a small cooling fan and top up evaporation more often may be better.

  5. hi plankton. a reefer share with me that he got a iq5 from pet mart at serangoon for $80. you may want to try there.

There you go.. I believe there's also an optional acrylic cover for IQ5... just in case if you want to cover it but I won't really recommend it due to the heat. (maybe at night will be ok.)

  6. Hi bro

Care to share where to get an IQ5 for less than $100.

Also if there is a shop that has a wide range of pico/nano accessories setup.

I am interested to start a pico tank like TS; due to limited space but I am concern about manageability since it is a pico and temperature is also a challenge.

    Thanks

You can ask around but I think Petmart at Serangoon North should have and it's the cheapest. As for accessories, it's too scattered, really depends what you mean.

  7. :ThanxSmiley: All donations are most welcomed!! :whistle

Does star fishes consume the coral polyps and snails? Read about it somewhere...

Have any one of you tried keeping oysters, mussels (not the clams which we normally see in the shops)? Possible to keep it in the tank??

I think you mean those large clams? Those are good, help to clean the water also.

Siang, Narsi snails won't topple corals, they too small.

  8. yes, just get a simple shelf/cupboard and i would suggest go for IQ5. IQ3 is too small. IQ5 is less than S$100 and if you want, change the light to something better, maybe a small LED light. Then add a small clip on fan to bring temp down. fish stock should be minimal, 3-4 small fishes max, some corals and maybe a shrimp, starfish etc.

Top up with distilled water and do water change with sea salt once a week.

  9. Are you keeping a bare bottom or a sand bedded tank?

If it's a sand bedded tank, sand shifting star, sand dollar and narcissus snail are a good bet.

Other cleaning crews that are ideal are red legged hermit crab, abalone, turbo snails, tuxedo urchins and sea hare.

Do note that urchins and turbo snails are famous for knocking off frags or taking frags for a ride.

I won't take boxing shrimp as a clean up crew unless you're talking it eating left over food.

yup, dont get turbo snails (too big and knocks frags down or mow them over!), get nascissus snail (anyone see it recently?). Also boxer shrimp is not that good choice... if want, maybe a cleaner shrimp is better... at least helps to clean the fish and looks pretty nice :)

  10. Was thinking of keeping some clearing crews like sea cucumber, alage blenny, tuxedo urchin, sand sifting star and boxing shrimp.

Fishes like coral beauty, flame angelfish,Powderblue tang, clownfish, six line wrasse,Royal Gramma Basslet, yellow globy,Bartlett's Anthias, Splendid Leopard wrasse,Mandarin Dragonet.... list actually goes on but is constraint by the size of the tank... :(

I wanted dottyback, yellowtail dameselfish and fairy wrasse but heard that they are either too agressive or they may potentially jump out of the tank. Is that true???

royal gramma and 6 line also aggressive.. yellow wrasse and splendid leopard wrasse will be better choice. Fairy wrasses are famous for their high jump capabilities and damselfishes/dottyback are mostly fairly aggressive.

  11. Thanks Bro for the advice. You are right that epoxy can be very tricky at times. Keen to try alternatives.

Where to get the bsi gel or coral glue?

BSI is very good.. can get from Iwarna, madpetz.. I got mine from madpetz which came with the fragging tools. :)

Just apply, dipped in water and rubbed it a little against the rock and it holds in seconds.. and last a long time, no need much at all.
