What I do is usually filled the cap for the test pen with some pH 7.0 solution then capped it and put back into the container. But the question is which brand of calibration solution is more reliable.

The only new thing added/replaced is the replacement for Chemipure (but can't remember the name, it is from Aquap---) which the C328 fish shop keeper said had change of packing only. But this had been done in late April. Today, my Maroon clown also gone. The tube worm had managed to come out a bit but it look like a 'painting brush'. The turbo snail still can move around but no sure what will happened next.

Not sure what had happended to my tank, it had been running for the past 11 months with no major problems but today some of the fishes suddenly died. Had checked the parameter of the water; pH 8.2 KH 13 Calcium 440 Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 40 Temperature 28.5 The zoo is also not opening. The tube anemone don't look good, did not open fully and is turning a bit pale (discolour). Any advise what had happend.

Which brand of calibration pH solution should used? I had tried two different brand of same pH but the reading is different by 0.4. No sure which is correct. Should I get a test kit to confirm, which brand is more reliable? Please advise.

But the uncle in Reborn said this one does not need strong light. Maybe he has give me the wrong information. No wonder, it look like a bit of 'bald' just after one week. What should be the ideal calcium level? For iron? Is it a much? Still don't have the additive and test kit for this.

Do this algae need strong light?

Should try to calibrate your test pen and ensure that the batteries is not weak. Just use your test pen on the calibration solution and you will know or else need to get another test kit to verify. Formerly I also this problem due to weak batteries.

Hi Hammy, Learn from some users of Biohome, they never change them at all. What they usually do if use the tank water to wash the biohome while maintenance the filteration system. So do you suggest to change them at certain interval?

Beside the difference in brand and price, what is the difference in term of funciton? Look like both also cultivate good bacteria to remove the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.

Hi bro, Do you means these Chaeto is no suitable for main tanks as they are not anchored to LR? Are these Chaeto is to reap as food for those herbivores fishes?

Test yesterday, the dKH is about 15 and Ca is about 600 but PH IS 8.0. Made water changes of about 20% at yesterdy & add addition aeration and made another test this afternoon. The dKH is about 14 and Ca is about 600 but PH is 7.9. Should I may another water changes or wait for a couple of days? I had been adding Kawasser solution (limewater) for my fresh water topping up, should I stop this? Any advise?

Thanks Keith, Can you tell me more about chaetomorpha. Where do get this? Are they attach to LR so that can easily placed in the main tank? If it difficult to keep them? Or will they grow very fast?

Try to get some of Caulerpa but just wonder if these must come with the liverock or can they just come without any attachment (just like vegetable from the market)? If possible, how to secure them from being blown away by the current?

I'm adding Kawasser (limewater) for replenishment of evaporated water but PH is still have a reading of 8.0 (using PH test pen) The reading of my calicum was about 500 while the reading of my dKH is about 15. I had just bought in Magnisum additive and started to add in at alternate day but the PH do not seem to improve. Any advise?

Just wonder, whether there will be any significant sign to warn if there is any overdose of the additive without the use of test kits. At the moment, I added trace element, strongium, iodide on a weekly basic and use kalkwasser solution to replenish evaporated water. Thinking of getting magnesim additive and will add on weekly basic also. Any additive should add on? Please advise.

Hi Itchyhand, Maybe can you enlightened us where did you have your tank water tested and realised that the NO3 is zero. By the way, which brand of test kit did you use that keep telling you of reading between 20~50 ppm. Can pm me the infor if you are not so comfort to disclose them in the forum. Thank.

My colleague ask me to try Tetra and I know that they have two type; strip type & solution/additive type. Any suggestion?

Anybody use this KH test kit. Very disappointed with the performance, not working at all. Follow the instruction, put one drop of solution into the test tube but no reaction (suppose to turn blue to initial the start). Put into a few more drop and still not reaction. Try three time and get frustrated and throw away the whole test kits. Promise myself not to buy such brand again

Hi fisheatme, After this acclimation, should I use my bare hand/fish net to scoop the starfish out of the bag and put it in the tank OR Use a small container to scoop the starfish with some water and put them into the tank (ie not to let the starfish expose to air?)
