  1. with actinic and 20k mh only, you dont have much photosynthetically-usable light over your tank.
  2. my bad. it was a language fumble, i wanted to know what he meant. no obligation whatsoever of course. but yeah, i understand. best of luck to the animal and its owner, whoever it is, feel free to pm me for more tips if you choose.
  3. hey, glad to hear you have the best intentions for the animal, but i have to contradict your information, sorry. you probably researched in the wrong places, which is sadly, too easy a mistake to make when the animals in question are elasmobranchs. 3 by 2 by 2 isnt much swimming space, and when you say "fishes will nt grow fast wen they know the area they are in is not very big"... you mean "fish only grow to the size of the tank their in" ??? dont believe this. fish grow to a certain size because of genes, not because they know they should. "i plan to rear it 3 mnths b4 owning one." i dont understand this statement, could you explain please?
  4. sorry, but 8 months and the bamboo is only half a foot long? that's newly hatched pup size. at eight months it should be at least 18 inches. tank sizes for sharks is grossly underquoted, maybe you've read "aquarium sharks and rays" by one scott W michael? take his tank sizes and multiply by 200%, and that's just for benthic species. you guys think it okay to keep a 4' long shark that DOES swim around, be it occasionally, in a tank that is half it's length? i'm sorry, but elasmobranchs being my main focus in the hobby, i can't sit idly by and see you mistreat this animal. it's unconscientious or miseducated hobbyists not unlike you that make it difficult for others to responsibly keep sharks. who? conscientious hobbyists, that's who. the brownbanded bamboo shark is a tropical species. i'm honestly sorry if i was too harsh before, but as i stated, sharks are a touchy subject with me, because i see all to many people trying to keep a "banded cat" in a 55gal or a blacktip in a 180gal. to anyone interested in elasmobranchs, i recommend visiting www.monsterfishkeepers.com, they have the best shark and ray forum, after www.sharkraycentral.com i am also a regular poster on monsterfishkeepers, the saltwater section could do with some of you guy's input. many of these guys are professional dealers and public aquarists, and are the ones who you should take advice from, not random sites. i just hope the animal can lead a healthy and comfortable captive life.
  5. you have got to be kidding me. research before you buy an animal, for the love of god.
  6. first: that is a bamboo shark. it's not a fish for beginners or small tanks. this guy needs min 500 gallons for life.
  7. "Because distilled water has lost all of its minerals and anything else it might have, the water molecules will bond with the fish/invertebrates that have these minerals that were lost by the water." this is [loosely] hypothetically possible, but only with RO/DI water, and it has to be totally 100 percent pure. there's nothing to worry about realistically. outside of a lab, we won't achieve water this pure, and we most definitely wont achieve it in an aquarium.
  8. hey bro, what tank size is this skimmer rated for?
  9. bought this fish for $25, grown quite a bit since willing to trade for a simple [venturi] skimmer, percs, cleaner shrimp, zoa frags, mushrooms, star polyps, xenia, chaeto... almost anything really. pm me located at upper paya lebar, willing to travel
  10. pretty sure it's "pearling" from the algae on your LR, seeing as it's only rock near to the surface [more light] that has bubbles on.
  11. a shell! i added a big conch-type shell, as a cave for a wrasse or eel, my ocellaris pair immediately took residence in it. it's a big piece, the hollow quite deep, one fist can enter
  12. twist ties have metal in them, wouldnt advise you to use in your tank
  13. looking to buy chaeto, as much as i can find, contact me at 91520435.
  14. total length 6 inches, an extremely tough fish with striking colour. great for FO/WLR tanks. asking $25 collection at upper paya lebar reason for selling: restarted tank, moving up to reef from fowlr.
  15. yes, you add salt proportionate to total system gallons.
  16. dang it, just a tad too tall for me bump for your sale, good skimmer [nice CD in there too].
  17. i might be interested, could you get photos of the fixture? and more details of it?
