  1. Those from commercial light shop MH can use but it usually doesn't comes with any proper fixture for a fishtank so must DIY the structure to support the MH over the tank. That the hard part. The other thing is that the temperature of the bulb they carry might not be of enough K.
  2. Here's my humble little tank. In the second picture there is the little Canary Wrasse
  3. They're in my tank now Manage to get them an hour before you posted They only have a cannary and one green left, so got both. Thanks anyway.
  4. Thanks for the offer pal. After the initial FW dip looks like I got most of the nudi (there were a few big ones but there were many tiny ones, so I guess somewhere some eggs probably hatched), a colony of my zoa that hasn't been consistently opening recently is even opening when the tank lights is not on, so it's looking good. Got me 2 Coris Wrasse tonite from AM, a yellow and green hope they can do their stuff tomorrow. Currently both are buried somewhere in the sand. The problem is my tank has been kinda a semi pod farm as I was hoping to keep a Mandarin fish (dragonet ?). But now, with the 2 wrasse they should be able to wipe them out pretty soon and hopefully focus on any nudi that got away. Again, thanks. Will take a picture of my tiny tank and post it later.
  5. Will dip them tonight in FW, only Reef Depot seems to carry Kent Lugol's Iodine and I can only get it in the week end also .
  6. Thats the problem ....... sigh. I know don't have garantee the wrasse will eat the nudi, thats why must buy insurance I am going to get 3! Hopefully the odds is better My tank is small but without fish, so at most two can stay, the other will go to my two footer. Anyway if there is 6 line, I will also grab. These nudi are a pain in the a***. Dip also no gurantee they won't come back. So need something to patrol constantly. I do know that this wrasse are sucidal as they like to jump, thats also a problem. Anyway, I am working and by the time I get down to ah beng I think they already close *sigh*. Maybe drop down Aquamarin and see if they have some, at least they open until midnite. If don't have then this Sat go down to Pasir Ris.
  7. Hi Solo77, Ah Beng is the guy from Pasir Ris Farmway L35 ??? And where is ML? I prefer Yellow or green Coris Wrasse as I can have a few of them in the same tank so that I get result faster. After that I will separate them into other tanks for patrol duties once the problem is under control in my zoa tank. I never have them but I heard 6 line is a terror or the tank once it's establish and I can't keep more then one in the same tank, so if I suay suay pick one that doesn't take nudi, then I additional problem And thanks for the info.
  8. Can anyone help ? http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=71696
  9. Well you've guessed, Nudibranchs explosion and I don't want to stripe my whole tank. Sigh!!!
  10. Hi Andy, One thing I learnt from this hobby is "Patience", you can't really rush it especially if we lack the fundemental. Like most, I needed to balance my interest against budget, and I usually run on a very thight budget To be able to do that, I need to understand what I require to substain a marine aquarium and whats my limitation (with respect to my budget). My foray into my second marine setup cost me about $600 dollars. $10 for a second hand 1' by 1' by 1' cube, $18 of an eden internal filter and $10 for 10Kg of fine sand (size 0), 10Kg of Tropic Marine sea salt for about $40 and about $12 of live rock from some bro from this forum who had them after he decom. The most expensive investment is an Hopar 4 x 24W HO T5 lights, that is because my main focus is zoa, clams and Mushrooms. Cost of the light is about $95 after I change 2 tubes to 20K temp. I setup the tank with the sand, rock and artifical sea water and let it run. If the live rock is good you should see fan worms, worms and pods swimming in your tank after a week. Within this waiting period I made the best and most important investment for my marine interest. I went to Amazon online and ordered 7 books from them, two of the books which are "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist: A Commonsense Handbook for Successful Saltwater Hobbyists" and "The New Marine Aquarium: Step-By-Step Setup & Stocking Guide" which might be useful to you. To be honest, I have not seriously go into this two books yet as I am still reading on invertebrate and coral propagation and care. That took up over $360 of my budget. Once the books arrive, I spend some time reading and started to populate my little tank. Story is "take your time". Read about the need of the LS before you get them. Read about what it eats (some fishes sold do not eat process food) who it compatable with, what the environment it require, it's character (many fishes can't tolerate another of the same kind in the same tank), etc, etc. From the looks of you tank, I would recommend more sand (1" or 2" deep) reason is because you don't seem to have much bio-filtration and the sand helps in that department and more rocks, alot more. Good rocks not only convert ammonia if also convert nitrate, and they give fish a feel of sercurity which keeps them healthier due to less stress. I would remove the corner cotton filter and maybe add an internal filter for more current. In a week time you will have a diatom bloom and after you'll see pods scurrying around, thats the time to add LS. Start with a CUC, like turbo snail. Then when the tank is stable and clean of diatom, then start to add LS slowly. With a hang on skimmer your tank can probably support 6 or 7 little fishes. Don't over stock unless you've alot of time and your maintainance routine is tip top or else the fishes will die. Hope this helps.
  11. Looking to about 20kg of dead rock (dried is best as it's lighter ), don't have transport so collection point anywhere near Hougang/Sengkang or any MRT station prefered. Budget around $40. Thanks.
  12. Pets Mart at Serangoon Ave 2 Blk 151 has them.
  13. If a clam is dead, you'll know It'll disintergrate and have dark/white/grey stuff inside. A clam on is side will not have full light requirement as one lip of the the mantle will shade the other. And having it's abyssal expose isn't the best thing for a clam. Put it face up and put it on something solid like a rock. If you have your clam on substrate, push the rock under the substrate then put your into the substrate but on top of the rock.
  14. It could be something you didn't notice, see if there are snails (small), crabs or worms around the base or near the mantle at night. Do a couple of spot check with a torch light 2 or 3 hours after lights off, you might see the culprit then. Good Luck.
  15. Interested in these zoanthids .... lime green skirting, bluish face, greenish yellow mouth red skirting with black / bluish face big pink palys red striped face with bright green mouth green skirting, green mouth, various colored face Can give me an idea how much they cost to purchase ? And collection location. I have frag to to trade but you've got what I've
  16. Hi I want 1 packets, can pick up at Sengkang MRT any weekday after work. PMed you my contact.
  17. I don't think they're harmful, I believe they are pods, specifically which type, I am not sure. I have a tankfully of them but they just scurry around. Some can get rather big, about 0.5cm and red in colour
  18. Hi, I can't see the white spot clearly. If it looks like mine ....... http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=68105 can you tell me your pH and kH ? I am collating some information to see if there is some common parameters. I solve my problem by increasing alkalinity of the new water added during water change, but I do not know if it's the alkalinity boost or the water change that solve it. So identifying the cause would probably help.
  19. Do let us know when will the article be publish ?
  20. Hi I am relatively new to marine too, I am staying opposite Institute of Mental Health in Hougang Anyway, I would like to point out that since your's a new tank the 2 Dragonet might not survive in the long run. And 2 feet plus sump (assuming both are mature) can only support one Mandarin. I so far lost one because it finished all the Pods faster then I expected and didn't move it to another tank before it died, so keep an eye out for them.
  21. I am looking for cheap LR dead or alive. About 5 to 8kg enough for a 1' by 1' tank. I am looking to buy from people in Hougang, Sengkang, Ponggol or AMK. OR anyone that can meet me in any of the MRT station in town after office hours. Sorry about the restriction, I don't have a car and a slight problem with my back so can't carry them back from afar. Thanks.
