  1. 400 watts on a 2.5 feet tank is okay. When electricity was a lot cheaper then, I used 3 x 400W MH on a 4 ft x 20 inch deep tank at 10 inches from the water surface with outstanding results. Corals turned pure sky blue at 4 inches under the water and growth was .5 to .75 inch a month.

SPS can never have enough light. Now my 400 watts light can barely keep blue tips at 2.5 ft deep. Just my experience.

  2. Calling all Artica Owners and other chiller brand owners!!!!

Please check how much power does your chiller's consume when its at rest in between running periods. You will need a clamp meter to do this.

I measured my new Artica 1.5 HP chiller and found out that it draws 0.2A of current at rest .

Artica at rest alone is using 46 watts of power.

For a period of 30.5 days average per month the total power consumption for the chiller at rest is 22.5 khw. (16 hours/day on standby)

The chiller when running draws ~5.8A of current. The total power consumption when running (8 hr/day) adds up to 325 kwh per month or $68.25.

The total power consumption per month on 1/3 duty rating (1/3 run 2/3 off) is 347.5 kwh or around ~$73 per month.

This will give you a view on how much you pay for cooling your tank.

My clamp meter is a Megger MMC850.

(Note: my tank has 800 watts of lighting )

  4. Hi All,

Thanks for the response, as of now the bigger frag or colony has been reserved. Will try to see my tank whether I still have other frags. As of the moment only the 3 small frags are left.

For now I will only respond to those who PMed over the last 2 days if I have the additional frags.

    regards,

    Robe

  5. To All who PMed me,

Sorry for the late reply. I am posting some pics. Most frags are browned out due to being put along the side of tank as filler corals. These are mostly 3rd or 4th generation frags. They should easily color up in good lighting and water condition and probably can grow up to 2 cm per month.

I will only be available this weekend. Saturday morning or Sunday morning. I will PM you my HP and address.

Due to the unexpected response I will try to accomodate most but not all as there may not be enough frags to go around.

    THanks!

    regards,

    Robe

    Small frags at $5 each
