  1. Lol, bro mengyang_neo, your statement about photoshop till hand also red is very funny, but it is true, sad to say. Bro kakani, u re right & i believe R&D are being done now so LED will become better. It is the future & we have to wait unless the orphek atlantik blows my 'eyes' off. Btw, already going to construct fixtures for hanging lights, be it ATI T5 or LED. Already got a sponsor in this forum to do that. I am serious this time. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  2. Bro sunnymau, i stay in the west. I would of course like to see your atlantik in action. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  3. I guess using 16k will be better than my ptevious 10k. Dun know why but i have this feeling that more blue will bring out the colors more. That is what i learnt after switch back to T5, with 50% or more tubes using blue, to obtain 12k spectrum. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  4. Btw, bro evolutionz, i believe u are using the 16k version because i saw your sale of zoas, the water color is quite blue or was the photos taken when channel B is higher than channel A? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  5. This is a good discussion. Thks for those that share your experiences about LED here. Still welcome any replies here. Btw, sorry to hijack this thread. Bro pandagold, hope to hear from u soon, regarding your new LED. I do need more positive feedbacks to boost up back my confidence in LED. Pics will be better. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  6. Any comments on the above 3 sets of LEDs that i have tried. Bro Evolutionz, of the whole lot brands that u have mentioned, radion & AI will have better chances of success. But after having dump over $3k into LED, i have become afraid of trying another LED & not getting the expected result. 3k is no small sum. Anyway, i am still keeping myself updated with LEDs advancenent. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  7. My 1st LED, lumenaqua, cost me $1.98k. 2nd set maxspect G2, $1.2k, 3rd & final set, maxspect razor. Give up after that. However, zoas & LPS color up but not SPS. Maybe they got the spectrum right for LED. T5 easier to mix. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  8. But, thinking back, those high end LEDs with green, red apart from the normal blue & white might do the trick. I must clarified i have nothing against LED but not now as i feel it has not proven it's worth. I will wait till LED has proven itself, jus like how T5 prove itself against T8, become the norm, then i will jump back. BTW, i have read articles about people jumping back to T5 or MH from LED. Jus google and u guys can find out why. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  9. And also, henry has a very hard time trying to convince me due to the bad experience i had, after using 3 different types of LED lightset for 4 years & my SPS colors all browns. After switch back to T5, the colors came back. Most SPS tanks here uses T5, with rare case of success with LED. Not only here, as well as on reefcentral. The forum there are more honest & i think it is due to culture. We asian are more conservative in how we speak & thus most keep quiet, whether failure or success. Henry even 'on' the lightset to show me. I am still not convince. LEDs cannot make it for SPS. This technology still in infant stages, T5 has been proven. I have to be honest here so that reefing can take a big leap forward in the area of SPS keeping. Is not that the purpose of setting up this forum in the first place? Those with success or failures, leave your honest comments here but of course, dun mention brands with failures. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  10. Bro sunnymau, is your SPS big colony or small frags? I heard about u using this LED from ML but yet to see it in person. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  11. Look again at the manual & make sure everything are connected & in place. Every parts are there for some reason & most important, to function properly as a whole. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  12. Air tubing must be connected to the pump inlet. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  13. From ATI. Powerful T5 & LED hybrid. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  14. A photo of the skimmate produced. Mine is tuned to slightly wet skimmate. Good luck. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  15. Hi, a photo of my Skimz SM161 to let u have a reference of where the level between the water & air bubbles would be. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  16. Also, place your skimmer in a place of your sump where the water level will be constant & the water level is within the skimmer recommended level. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  17. Tune to dryer skim by adjusting the micro valve clockwise direction. For air, full close then open a bit. From there, adjust very slowly both the air or/& the micro valve till u can see the level of water at halfway of the skimmer cup neck. From there, adjust after every few hours for fine tuning. This is a powerful skimmer, no need too much air. It is like stepping too much on the accelerator of a ferrari. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  18. If you are using ATI fixture, the light tubes will be 'overdrive', 8 mths have to change. For other fixtures where the tubes are not been 'overdriven', 9 months is OK, however should not be more than 10 months.
  19. Yes, u re right. A hybrid of T5 & MH can bring out the best.
  20. Correct me if I am wrong but based on my observations & reading up the forums, MH does produce better looking SPS colors compared to T5. I am not sure about LED but based on my own experience after using LEDs for 4.5 years & 3 different LED lightset, I got nothing but brown SPS. Not sure about the high end LED like radion & AI Vega or Orphek Atlantik. Those having success with LEDs are few & rare. Either they got the tuning of the spectrum right or some modifications have been done to the lightset itself. I am talking about colors here, growth is no issue. After I have converted back to T5, I can see colors slowly coming back. However to be fair to LEDs, one should have no issue with colors or growth with LPS ( placed in shady areas) or zoas. MH however, produce a lot of heat & consume eletricity like 'nobody business' with the chiller running like no tomorrow. T5 will still lose out no matter what. Well, depends on what one wants.
  21. This SSC is different, mostly light green body with light pink tips. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  22. Get AI or radion. Supplement with T5 is a must if u insist on getting beamswork LED, unless u dun mind all of your colorful SPS turning to brown colors. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
  23. Yes, his zoas good stuff, very productive. From 3-4 polys, under good condition, reproduce very fast. Will get a mini colony of ~ 20 polys in a few months. Really good sales, based on the price stated above. $58 for each for the 5 package, some zoas listed above cost at least double if bought at other times. Upz for your sales, bro. If I am not saving up $ to get the ATI T5 fixture, will get more from you, apart from the 2 SPS sticks that I have ordered from you this morning.
  24. For MB7, if you are using dosage for high nutrient, you will need to dose daily 1.8ml. After 2 weeks, u can switch to weekly dosage at 5ml per 189L, ~1ml for 34L. You must off your skimmer for 4 hours. If you have UV, that also must be off for 4 hours. For biofuel (something similar to carbon dosing), you will need to dose daily to be effective. For your 34L, you will need to dose around 0.8ml (for high nutrient tank). When your PO4 & NO3 become immeasurable or nearly so (using test kits), you can switch to 'low nutrient' dosage which will be around 5ml per 378.5L, your 34L will be 0.44ml. All this info is taken from www.brightwellaquatics.com which, dosage is indicated on your bottle labels too. For Super bacteria 8000, there is no need to add 2 different brands of bacteria concurrently. Using together will wastage. As Bro kakani mentioned, take note of red slim. For brightwell products, their instruction is quite lenghty. Need to read slowly & understand what they mean.
