very nice shallow tank .. And good idea on running two chiller as a backup, do you see any signification increase in the electrical usage ?
Thanks!
I’ve been running it this way since the beginning so I’m unable to compared it with running only one chiller

Didn’t do much for the past month as I want to tank to be as stable as possible
It is widely believe that keeping Kh as consistent as possible is important, my tank’s Kh now looks something like this and I’m quite pleased with it:
pH on the other hand is lower than what I’d like it to be, but having a consistent pH is also important, so I’ll not do anything in the near future to raise it
And to end it off, a quick picture of one section of the tank: -
Iwarna brought in peacock mantis just last week, selling at $20+
Do Ensure that the thickness of your glass tank is sufficient as mantis shrimp is known to have the ability to crack glass that is too thin
-
Not many people like damsels, myself included
But this Starcki’s damsel is very well-behaves, has tons of personality, and resembles my favourite dwarf angelfish - the resplendent angelfish- which is almost impossible to get now
Another, more zoomed out, shot:

5. Dual return pumps with Dual chillers - 1x Abyzz A100 connected to Hailea HK1000A and 1x Sicce (forgot which model) connected to Arctica 1/5HP
May I know how these work? Both able kick in together same time?
Hailea alone is able to bring the tank’s temp from 26.9 to 25.1 in less than an hour. I set the desired temp for hailea at 26, and, according to arctica temp probe reading, it will kick in at 26.9 and stop at 25.1. I’m not sure how to narrow the range; I read that it’s possible to use an external temp probe to control the older hailea models, but I’m not sure how it’s fine for the Hk series
Arctica alone is able to bring the temp down by 0.1 after running for about 4-5 hours
So hailea is the main chiller while Arctica is the backup, but not running a chiller for an extended period of time is harmful to it
So the Arctica is set at 26.5-26.9 so that both chillers will kick in almost simultaneously when the tank is at a temp of 26.9

2. Sump with the following bubble trap design, base image courtesy of gmacreef:
3. Bean animal external overflow, position at centre
4. Lighting: 2x Kessil A360WE Tuna Blue and 1x Red Sea reef Led90 (probably need at least one more to fully cover the tank)
5. Dual return pumps with Dual chillers - 1x Abyzz A100 connected to Hailea HK1000A and 1x Sicce (forgot which model) connected to Arctica 1/5HP
6. Dosing pump: Jebao DP4
7. Skimmer: Deltec 1455

Another 7 days later, with one bag of siporax from the old set up, and three bags of new siporax, and three newly purchased fish - kole tang, starcki’s damsel and a Fire goby. So basically the new set up is used as a QT without medication for these new fish:
-
Four days later:
I’ve been doing 50-litres water change on the old setup, and use the water removed to fill up the new tank
-
-
It’s sold out, thanks all

Thanks Hmmm2 and yes I did note that there are quite a few members selling coral frags. On the fish, I was wondering if there are any LFS in Singapore who are able to indicate which of their stocks is captive bred? Or if there are any LFS who are able to import the fishes? I see some overseas websites mention that we apparently have an industry of fish breeders in Singapore who have been breeding marine fish.
Iwarna would be my recommendation for such fish, and they would usually indicate when it is captive bred
Do note that iwarna generally, but not always because clownfish and seahorse are notable exceptions, only bring in very premium fish for captive bred specimens
As for your last point about local marine fish breeders, there used to be some who did clownfish and banggai cardinal, but I’m not sure if they are still doing it

Hi All, this is my first post. I managed to convince the wife that we can have a small marine tank so here I am.
Have been fresh water keeping for a few years and could not help salivating over the awesome pictures of marine tanks so am tempted to start one.
My wife heard of how some fish stocks are being taken from the seas so she has one condition that I get my livestock and corals from sustainable sources meaning tank bred. Is this a possibility and which aquariums may have sell such fish and corals.
I am not sure if this is a sensitive topic here so if it is I do apologize but I hope to earn her approval and support for another tank in the house. :/
I know that it is still a jump for me from freshwater to saltwater so I will be picking up more information before I dedicate to a tank. Any thoughts are welcome in the meantime.
Thank you.
Welcome to the salty side
For fish, most clownfish (especially designer clownfish) would fulfil that requirement
As for corals, you may consider getting from fellow reefers who have successfully cultured them (refer to the Pasar Malam section)

Most, if not all, answers you’ll get will be anecdotal
My personal experience coincides closely to this Reefer’s:

Rescape?
Yeah, getting too cluttered, so I sold off some frags and transferred some corals over to my 2-feet

Today’s Top down shot of the bowerbanki, it’s a little more puffy now, after around ten days acclimatizing into its new environment
It’s been kept under very very Low lighting
-
I keep everything - softies, LPS, SPS, clams, fish, from corals that are given to me to coral that costs pretty much the same as the sum of everything else
But LPS is probably my main interest, and every coral has a unique story behind it
I’ll post 10 pictures here, with a short caption:
1. most adorable
2. first coral swap
3. most senior coral & most frequent incorrect ID by my visitors
4. most difficult to colour up fully:
5. most vicious
6. most frequently fragged
7. most unexpected acquisition
8. most photographed
9. most annoying10. most greedy

WTS a set of fish, including a hawaiian yellow tang
in Sell off/Pasar Malam Shop
Posted
WTS the following stable fish, looking at selling them as a set if possible:
1. Wild caught hawaiian yellow tang, with me for than 8 years, bought before hawaii stop exporting
2. Purple tang
3. No ID tang (good algae eater)
4. 3x Molly miller blenny (aptasia eater) bought from iwarna with proof, so ID very likely to be correct
5. Flame hawk
6. Starki damsel
7. Pair of clown - 1 Picasso and 1 black storm
8. Randall's goby
Can whatsapp me at 9338 5671 for video of some of the fish
Looking at $1,200, but must be able to collect before 5pm on weekdays, will drain my tank to half full prior and we catch together
