  4. I've got 2 corals that i need help to identify, 1 is a plate the size of 20cents with purple and pink polyps that can extend to about 10mm. and another is a neon green staghorn looking with brown polyps.
  5. $40 and 1 McDonald's ice cream cone. hehehe
  6. hey bro, i send you PM earlier, you received? waiting for your reply.
  7. I have a small Koraia, about 2 months old.... wanna trade? i think its a Koraia 1, need to check the box to see.
  8. you missed out another option 6. fishes end up as table fare...... hahahaha all my fishes are edible.... sweetlips, barramundi cod, golden trevallies and soon to add coral trout (if i can find) and hopefully a black spotted tuskie. I saw a lyretail grouper the other day at pasir ris.... very tempting. teochew steam or hong kong steam?
  9. what do they feed on? if i don't have algae in my tank what can i feed them with?
  10. yes, National Oxygen. 'J' bottles are those big tanks that you see at construction sites...lol a crate is 9 of the 'J' bottles pack in a metal crate. i think there is a shop in defu filling industrial grade gases. sorry, i don't know the exact location as we only use med grade for breathing.
  11. there are several places where you can top up. i normally buy my helium from NOX, we buy by the 'J' bottle or by the crate. the last time we bought cost $0.07/L. how many litre is your bottle? and what is max pressure? you'll know the total amout of helium for a fill. the one that we bought are medical grade, i think you don't need med grade for balloons, just industrial grade will do.... probably cheaper too.
  12. attached are some of the pics i took last night.
  13. hi, Has anyone tried using car HID xenon filled headlamps for their DIY lighting? they comes in a huge range of colour temperature up to 24000k (purplish) and has a lux level of 200k at 500mm. and most attractive of all is they are relatively cheap. i've ordered a set for 45usd + shipping for my non aquarium project. i don't know much about DIY, maybe someone could help me, i can order the lamps in and work together. the lamps comes with ballasts and wiring, just need a light fixture and probably a control box to step down from 220-240v to 12v.
  14. I'll take a pic of the tank and post it up tonight. the 2 remaining fishes are doing great, sweetlip has found a home and the clownfish just swims against the current all the time. but both are eating well.
  15. Hi all, I've just started a marine tank that i think was too rushed and impulsive. i've never had any experience with marine fish except eating. so here goes.... my friend gave me a tank 2 x 2 x 2, pump, 2 colour tube lighting and some filter membrane on 22nd May, I bought some salt water, coral chips and coarse sand from pasir ris on 23rd May and dumped the whole lot in..... lugging the 140l of water was hell!!!, went to St John and picked some live rock on 24th May, did a quick rinse with fresh water and dumped them in as well..... i found a few crabs hiding in the rocks too.... there is 1 hairy crab too... i was feeling very impatient, i went and bought 2 clownfish and 1 sweetlip on 30th May and dumped them in as well.... oh and i've also added a small pump to circulate the water and a small wave maker too. on the morning of the 1st Jun, I found a sea lice attached to 1 of the clownfish, dayum!!!!... i quickly removed and squashed it. by evening, the clownfish isn't looking too healthy, it was swimming on the surface. then i saw it took a dive and started wiggling at the bottom, Merde!! its dying so i took it out and flushed it down the toilet bowl. kinda sad. well..... the other 2 fishes are still going strong and eating well, thats a comfort. I just bought a NO3 test kit last night and tested the water.... its showing 20-25ppm.... i guess that should be ok. I'm currently thinking of changing the light.... would a couple of car HID headlight do for the lighting? what would be the prefered colour temp. and lux level? I'm gonna put in some corals too. and i'll probably need a chiller. the water is hovering around 29deg, so i've been putting in frozen bottles of water in the sump hoping to bring the temp. down. what a chore that is. I intend to keep barramundi cod, golden trevallies, sweetlips and maybe somw cleaner shrimps. and maybe a couple of algae eating critters for measure. ok, whats done been done..... how do i proceed from here? i'm all ears.... but i'm on a tight budget so please don't recommend expensive stuff, my wife will lock me out of the bedroom. cheers all
