eheim 1260 and tee off slightly only using eheim valve. u can probably use other pumps like extrema, etc but i suspect 2012 need 1500-1800/h assuming no head loss. 2013... i will get a 1262 or maybe juz try extrema since it is much cheaper.

my experience with weipro is that you must maintain the water level at the next and the bubbles will froth between the lowest point of the next and the middle section. u must be able to achieve this without closing the outlet valve too much. i over spec my pump so i adjust by tuning the pump flow valve instead of the outlet valve. this way, i get max water through the skimmer and yet maintain the desired water level. after 1-2 days, you should get kopi-o or dark tea. please do not tune the water level lower thinking u can get sludge like aquac or h&s. weipro juz cannot do it due to the lower amount of bubbles the venturi can produce. nonetheless, watery collection is still good and is easier to clean. u probably need to empty cup every 5-7 days.

??? new tw6? im pretty sure it can cool ur tank down, esp a 4 footer. is it becos it needed servicing? actually i dun look at hp when selecting chiller. best to get the specs of cooling ability, ie what is ambient temp, what is desired temp, how much water, time to take to cool, etc. this is the real facts of the chiller! teco has a chart for theirs. juz like the anology of the lorry and car, one got more hp but the other one moves faster. so how u know which one u want? ask for its 0-100 in secs, ask for top speed, etc. u dun ask how many cc is the engine and go buy. u guys may be rating the sponsor chiller wrongly. when i asked for a quote, i always put the specs, ie my requirement. so up to them to propose and not ask for x hp chiller. then again, i may not be aware of other facts. my 2 cents worth!

i find lck110 prices on the higher side or is it that i dunno how to bargain? eg blue tang $25 whereas other places sells at $16 and i know they came in the same day so cannot be becos they quarantine or whatever. croceas $35 for small $45 for bigger ones whereas PM only $30 and $35 and got over a hundred to choose from. if can lower prices, who to talk to?

i used to have high casulties. almost all, with the exception of clown fish, dies within 1 week of putting in main tank. i put them in direct without quarantine, etc. the problem is not the itch (which always happens) but a combined problems of itch, new environment so hiding, not getting food, etc. my new regiment has seen no casualty (touch wood). when first brought back, i put 1 drop of malachite green. leave the fish in the original bag for 30 min. then catch out to q tank. put myxazin or other anti itch, anti parasite medicine. leave fish in q tank for a few days. make sure they look ok and feeding before i put into plastic container in main tank. leave it there for a few days. make sure it looks comfortable, no sickness and most importantly, eats at every feeding (this indicates it is not frightened anymore and not eating becos it is starving) then let go into main tank. simple steps but it works. should have found this out much earlier cos my ls that died cost more than juz hundreds of bucks! ouch ps u can skip the q tank regime. i only do it after my ranchus died and thus have extra tank. cheers!

im using those plastic containers with lots of big holes at sides and bottom with 2 hooks. i think shops sell them as holders for shampoo, etc to be used in bathrooms.

i used to have the same problem. one fine day u will realise u cant find it anymore... i put any fish that i plan to introduce into a container hanging in the main tank. let it stay there for a few days and make sure it eats while inside the container. once it starts eating, then release it. works for me after so many failed attempts using other methods!

i think the argument will be endless but this is my personal conclusion. for small to medium setup, NW or spray injection is better as they require lower flow rate and small setup. however, for big tanks, beckett is better as it is more suited to handle high volume and require big installation. therefore, it is not feasible to compare based on a particular fixed size, instead, we should put these 2 at the top, side by side and use them appropriately. cheers!

where got the nicest clams right now? bio ocean came in some croceas and got a few nice ones but i din take cos juz came in. let them settle over 2 days first. im looking for some nice ones... croceas and maximas.
