  1. This is a rose tip anemone, very hardy and small enough to keep in my tank. I have killed a few anemones in the process, but this one is very lasting. It has already formed a symbiotic relationship with the clown. So i strongly recommend it. i also have a yasha goby and pistol shrimp, another symbiotic pair in my little reef setup.
  2. Yes Henry is very helpful. Must thank him by helping to post some good feedbacks on his recommended products. I'm not sure if you should get a bluestreak cleaner wrasse cos it is hard to maintain, fussy eater. If you don't mind its short lifespan, go ahead and give it a try, unless you are confident of feeding it.
  3. Bro, thank you for taking interest in my setup. I'm using several liquid elements, mainly by brightwell aquatics - Mg, Iodine, Strontium, Calcium and Alkalin8.3. Currently using Goodbye PO4 to reduce phosphate, and Sorb-4 resin by AquaPharm to maintain phosphate level at zero. Using It's Clear! Florida Aqua Farm to bind excess suspended particles to clarify water. Using RedSea Salt mix, and do about 15% water change per week, at least.
  4. Thank you bro. I'm using a lousy $12 skimmer, not the high end ones that most ppl are using. Maybe that's why I can't keep certain corals, so i'm quite selective with my livestocks. What you see in here requires lower maintenance. I guess those solutions that i'm adding does help in providing the necessary nutrients and ridding the parasites. I'm still in the midst of battling red slime, and lowering my phosphate to 0. Once that is achieved, will be using coarlline stimulator to grow purple algae.
  5. Some recent additions to my reef
  6. Top left? The orange one? That's a sponge. I don't buy corals that sting...
  7. I'm exploring for HOB skimmers too, for my 2 feet. Any good recommendations?
  8. I'm really happy with the outcome of "It's Clear". Within 24 hours, I could see the effect on my tank. The water is crystal clear! Thanks to Henry from ML.
  9. Yes it is the vortex fan. Neat and powerful. I'm ok with evaporation as long as temp can be maintained at a reasonable value during the day.
  10. Hello bro. I top up about half a bottle of 1.5L distilled per day. You should use 2 fans. Today my temp went up to 28.5 during the day. Morning is normally 27.x. Evening when i turn on the aircon, i switch the fan off.
  11. 31C at 7am is unbelievable! I would have died in there too! LOL Is there ventilation in the room?
  12. Pls update on the progress of this tank. Very nice setup.
  13. tats very high. draw the curtains. do not let any sunlight through. don't place the tank near your window. I'm running 2 Dymax fans during the day. The highest i have is 29C and it's during this period.
  14. Yes, i did try freshwater dip but it's a long drawn process. Besides, with my tank full of corals, it is tough netting them. I'm using It's Clear now to clean the water of parasites.
  15. Yes, it does look big in photos. Ich is present in everyone's tank. The Tangs are most susceptible. I did not managed to cure them. For the rest of the fish, esp the gobies, they are hardy and did not catch the parasite. There are several medication in the market. Read and look around. I would not say which is best, cos everyone has their own preferences. One brand may work well in another's tank but not yours as everyone's tank is different. MOre imptly, frequent water change, non-overfeeding will help prevent ich.
  16. Bought a Newave WaveMake NWA1.6 - made in italy. Quality stuff. Just the right size I'm looking for, small and compact.
  17. Several. Mostly from Aquamarin and Wong Loy Kee. Sometimes from Balestiar and West Coast as well.
  18. Have been inactive in my thread for a while. Here are some new updates. Over the past weeks, I did some rescaping to the tank, lost some livestocks due to ich (white spots), and those that survived the ordeal came out stronger. I'm still maintaining a 2ft nano tank, without sump and cooler, as my intention is to keep things simple. Sure, more maintenance work is required, such as frequent water top-ups, twice weekly water change (30%) and more selective with livestocks that are intolerant of water temperature higher than 28C. Certain days, like during the warm season we are having now, daytime temperature may reach up to 29C. But with proper care, a well-stocked 2ft nano tank is possible. 19. That's a lot of products! You may try also Trace Elements+ from GO. The first time I dosed it, one of my corals that did not really open began to show signs of opening.
  20. You may try six-line wrasse. About $6.
  21. Lovely! Is it possible to share the setup of the Aquastyle? How is the LED installed? On the heatsink? Can't really tell from pix. Are they dimmable? I'm planning to get for my 2FT too, but i'm lost at the Aquastyle website. LOL
  22. It does not happen overnight. Sometimes it takes months to stablise.
  23. Keep the rocks there. You never know when you'll need it. It may seem a lot now, but as you start scaping, things will change, ideas will evolve.
  24. Alkalinity should read about 8.2. You may buy solution to raise the alkalinity, High phosphate will encourage algae growth. Get a packet of resin, put it in a sock/stocking, and soak in the water. Overtime, this should lower the phosphate. NH3 is 0ppm, naturally as there are no livestocks in there. Adding 2-3 fishes (damsels/green chromis) during cycling will help, although some reefers do not encourage as this may be detrimental to the fishs' health. For reef building, you also need Strontium and Phytoplankton solution.
