Managed to google and understands how and maxijets gonna helps in overflow boxes . It helps to suck the air out to prevent the breakage of siphon . Great info !! Where did u buy the aqualifter from btw ?

I'm not sure whether kH will cause this problem . Try taking out your test kit . When I first got my gsp I got this issue as well , but when I tried raising my kH it did helps .
