  1. thanks for the input guys, i saw some videos on youtube when ppl were feeding their frogfish, and occasionally i would see a hermit crab running around in the back ground so i just wanted to confirm they wouldn't eat em. can't imagine what would happen if a frogfish swallowed an urchin, ouch.
  2. hi, i'd like to know if i have hermit crabs in my tank would a frogfish eat it? since they're such voracious eaters. and since i'm asking about hermit crabs, what other clean up crew would a frogfish eat? like snails, urchins, seastars, etc.
  3. hi, i think in a recent post i saw that henry from the marine life hobbielist has some in stock you can go give him a call or something. edit: sorry i looked back in the post and realised you were the one asking him about it. haha
  4. But what bout beneficial Copepods? Does mechanical filtration affect their population?
  5. i've always used mechanical filtration in the form of sponges and filter wool. and a thought suddenly came into my mind. i know mechanical filtration is good cause it removes all the unsightly dirt particles in a tank, but i'm also wandering, what if your corals or clams or shrimps start spawning, and from what i know, the little coral, clam or shrimp babies are really small and float around, wouldnt they get stuck on your mechanical filtration and die? would you guys consider removing your mechanical filtration if your live stock was spawning little plankton sized stuff? or how would you go around this problem?
  6. went to jireh marine at CCK today, saw alot of bubble corals, and torch corals. alot of red fire and skunk cleaner shrimps as well, and bubble tip anemones.
  7. hi guys, i'd just like to have your opinions for what corals you'd get for a 2 feet nano tank, assuming you can get the best lighting. what coral combinations would you go for to make your tank look very diverse and interesting? taking into account the color and shape of the corals. and if possible it'd be better to list hardier corals, i'm not really good at aquascaping and making designs so i'd like to get some ideas. for me i would choose a yellow toadstool leather coral. white kenya tree coral. green/blue zoanthids. orange mushroom polyps. lumi green star polyps, yellow polyps and lastly a crocea clam with a blue/green mantle. what about you guys?
  8. thanks, i'll definitely check it out.
  9. could be a lack of water changes or over feeding. my tank crashed once because i didn't do water changes for quite a while, but after that incident i've been keeping up with the water changes.
  10. i'd like to get a few sexy shrimp, anyone who has any pm me to negotiate a price or if you know a place that sells em please PM me thanks.
  11. Wow that's cool I hope mine wud do that too, then it'd be a real worthwhile purchase
  12. i woke up this morning and i found my mushroom coral detached and landed on one of the rocks near by, i tot it was in trouble at first, but i looked it up and most people said it was fine. so i took the oppurtunity to slice it up into 3 pieces muahahahahaha. but anyway i'll post updates here, and does anyone think i shuda let it be instead?
  13. how often do you do water changes? do you use RO water or tap water dechlorinater? what are your water parameters? i would advise you to do a huge water change first, at least 50 percent, then post up more info about the equipment you're using. i highly doubt the mandarin fish could cause it, but well that's just my opinion
  14. i've decided to get a shrimp in that case, since crabs mostly have a bad rep. thanks for the input guys.
  15. well, the porcelain crab is also called the porcelain anemone crab. and when i bought my anemone there was actually a porcelain crab living in it at the LFS. i cant decide whether to put the crab or the shrimp. what do you guys think?
  16. hi guys, i've gotten a bubble tip anemone recently, i'd like to a shrimp or crab to interact with it. i would like to know, whether the porcelain crab or glass anemone shrimp would be a better partner for the anemone, i'm thinking in terms of which one would be less likely to cause stress to the anemone? thanks.
  17. hi guys, i need advice on getting a lamp for a 2 feet reef tank, the depth of the water is about 1 feet. and i prefer using LED lighting rather than metal halides, so is there any shop that you guys recommend and how much can i expect to pay for good quality lamps?
  18. what about the number of fish i should have if i'm sticking to smaller fish. cause i really wanna avoid overstocking the tank.
  19. hi guys, i'm starting a FOWLR setup (maybe change it to a reef tank if all goes well) , and i have a 15 gallon tank. i'm going to use live rock with good water movement as filtration and a protein skimmer. i'm planning to get 2 occelaris or percula clownfish first. but i'm not sure how i should proceed from there. can anyone give me some good fish choices. thanks
