  1. Skunk cleaner purchased, thanks for the inputs!
  2. Thanks! I just called them, they say only medium 4cm and large ones. For the 4cm size, they told me $18! Quite expensive for that size leh.
  3. I checked already leh... Don't have... I checked at ah beng, shop opposite, irwana, called Jireh and CF... All don't have, supposed to be quite common... But
  4. Hi, anyone selling or knows where to buy small sized skunk cleaner shrimp? If you have please PM me.
  5. Reserved by Jeff 9666XXXX. Collection tomorrow afternoon
  6. Hi, I have 1 small Peppermint Shrimp for sale, ate up my aiptasias in my tank. Going for $15. Collection is at Tiong Bahru, please SMS to 96815717.
  7. I have peppermint shrimp which ate my aiptasias in the tank, PM you.
  8. Yeah, not stocking the tank anymore. That's why wanted to do swop of 1 peppermint for cleaner. My tank is full already, some say overfilled. So not planning to stock, although it is very tempting.
  9. Hi, want to trade 1 of my peppermints for 1 or 2 cleaner (skunk) shrimp. My peppermint definately eats Aiptasia, small sized about 1-1.5 inches. I am looking for small cleaner shrimp only.
  10. Ok, well my gonios still doing well. Only the parts the shrimps are harrasing are closing up, the other parts are all fully extended. I just bought a small live rock yesterday, when I put it in the tank then realised there are at least 6 aiptasias on it. Morning still left a few. Also realised early in the morning, my fishes will have white spots. (when they just wake up), but when it hits mid day or evening, the white spots are gone. Other than a little flashing, the fishes are doing well, no broken fins, no lacerations nothing. Maybe should just let it slide and allow their natural defences to fight off the white spots. BTW are cleaner (skunk) shrimps any useful for white spot conditions with your expriences?
  11. I noticed the Gonio I placed in the flow also does not extend fully, I even tried exchanging places and the one in the flow is always not fully extended. Maybe must put in low or no flow area.
  12. Thanks, I don't see those bubbles... But good news is my peppermint shrimp must have ate up the aptasia, I didn't see it the next morning. But now they are hanging around my Gonio, some parts of my Gonio close up due to that....
  13. An update to those who are keeping Gonio, mine are growing and seem to be doing well. The way I keep mine are: 1) Simple tank setup with no skimmer 2) No UV 3) No chiller 4) Feed Zooplankton (can see them branching over each other to "eat") 5) Weekly water change of about 20% They are encrusting more areas, can see the growth. Slowly but surely.
  14. Thanks for all the replies, very helpful. Just went to buy 3 peppermint shrimps (package price at iwarna), finally finished accilmatising and putting them into the tank. Not sure what are photosynthesis bubbles, but think it should be algae. Harmful to the tank? If not I just leave it alone.
  15. BTW how to remove it? There was 2, one is gone. Now it's only this left.
  16. Wow, thats really quick reply. Seems like its dying off, turned bownish, so will leave it alone for the moment. The purple/pinkish stuff on the rock? And the red stuff? All ok right?
  17. Hi All, wanted to check what are these I have on the live rock. They started appearing and not sure what they are. The thing in the middle with "arms" coming out and are algae supposed to come in pink and purple? Good stuff or bad stuff?
  18. Well, my take is simple. If we are keeping livestock from the sea, it does not belong to a tank. We are no saints or angels, it is good to educate. But to target a single shop which is small and new is akin to bullying. Especially when other LFS are also promoting these systems. Furthermore, we (me included) are all hiding behind a computer/mobile screen and commenting. This is cyberbullying.
  19. My opinion is in the first place, captured livestock belongs to the reefs, not in a tank. Most of us in this forum are perpetrators of this crime, I think being critical of what you feel is wrong is normal, healthy and good. But to have it targetted specifically when others are also doing it is wrong, especially if they are the new guys. It reeks of bullying the smaller and meek. I say if this thread wants to serve it's purpose, then take out the direct targetting of a single shop. Make it an educative thread to discuss what can or cannot go into a small little tank like an IQ3 or IQ5, then go spread this information to all LFS in Singapore. I too speak my mind (or rather type my feelings in this instance). I agree to disagree. No love lost
  20. Like I said, I am a noob. Thanks for your thoughts, well I guess we can go on educating every other LFS that sells these setups. The problem I find for this thread is it is targetted at a single shop which is new, there are other more established shops doing this, why aren't the peps in this thread educating them directly in this same manner? I agree that keeping a blue tang in a nano could be undoable, but mine has been in my tank for about 3 weeks. It had a ich whitespot outbreak for a few hours earlier this week but was naturally able to battle it without any dosing of chemicals and stuff, so I guess at this size it does not feel stressed, of course I may be wrong. If it grows too big, I definately need to find it a new home, either giveaway or sell to another who has a bigger tank. I bought a mandarin without knowledge, but gave it up for adoption by another forummer here as I realised it may be feeding too much on the live rock and not adapting to pallets. Eventually it is up to the responsibility of the person rearing the livestock that matters, even with a huge tank, if you don't feed your fishes, don't do water changes, don't use the right equipment etc, your livestock will still be stressed and die. If the livestock gets too big, then give or sell it away. Otherwise upgrade to a bigger setup. So I guess for my case now, it is more of a barely doable presently, but maybe not in the next year or few months. By then it will be my responsibility to find my little blue tang a better home. FYI, if you wana see my tank, you can look at the gonio thread under LPS section. Oh, FYI I am surprised but in my setup, my gonio is actually growing and encrusting further. Hopefully my tank does not crash, if it does then it definately proves to me a Nano/Pico setup is undoable.
  21. My thoughts when I read this thread are that it is too judgemental. Let me first clarify I own an IQ5 with fishes, sea fan, LPS and live rock, so I may be slightly biased and definately considered a noob in reefing. Look at it this way, years ago it was unheard of to have even a marine aquarium, slowly we have acceptable PICO and Nano tanks for certain fishes which were never thought of to be able to survive in such environment. If we really want things to be totally natural then all those additives, chemicals, equipment like skimmer, chiller etc we use or even the processed fish food should be thrown out. There is no such thing as a natural environment for reefing unless it is the sea, furthermore most livestock we buy come from the sea and are not captively bred. There is always a start somewhere to bring things we fancy to our homes like tropical and marine tank keeping, even keeping of reptiles and exotic animals. I think to condemm a single business entity to this extent is not right, they are there to do a business just like every other LFS. There are also other LFS who sell these tanks and setup. Who here has never had a livestock that died on you? Who buys only captive bred livestock? Who here only feeds natural food? Marine reefing may have some way to go to catch up with tropical/freshwater setup as the latter has more diverse captive bred stocks. BTW most websites which recommend tank setup for marine fishes always say minimum 10 gallons for even a fish that requires the smallest setup, previously it was alot more. So well...... PICO and Nano tanks should not even be sold. Just my 2 cents worth, now you guys can flame me. I will put my flame suit on!
  22. Saw many at ah beng today. Flame angel Royal gammas many bennies mandarins many shrimps many clowns seahorses (in pairs) octopus frogfish and many others....
  23. Not sure if this Flickr upload will work.
