  1. For me, i upgraded from a 1.5ft cube to a 3.5ft tank recently. I transferred all the rocks which I have been running for 1 year plus over except 1 of the rock which I saw got huge a huge bristle worm and maybe pistol shrimp. I did not transfer any water and sand over as I am using the same salt mix and the sand like what daveyy has said could have lots of craps in it. All the rocks were transferred over 2 days to my sump with the live stock. After about 2 weeks, i started seeing pods on all my glass. All livestock were also stable and eating after the transfer. Corals were also ok and are adjusting to the new lightings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. Hi guys, thanks for all your valuable feedback. i have decided not to do this to stress the fishes. Thanks!
  8. Tank have been running for more than a week. Currently rectifying some issues with the top cabinet doors and waiting for my aluminium light hanger to be ready. Will post pictures when the setup is ready!
  9. Hi guys, anyone having issues as I usually go there to check on the fishes I am buying. It seems like they have block off access. It says: Unfortunately we cannot accept international orders online. Please call our toll free number to discuss ordering.
  10. I am using it for my 3.5ft tank and my overflow is at the side and covers about .5ft. The side is covered but can see that it is slightly dim. I would say if you are using for a 4ft tank, the both sides will be darker. I am using the default stand and my tank is 2ft tall. If you are using for your 4ft tank, likely you need to hang higher.
  11. Anyway, I saw healthy Powder Blue, Powder Brown and blue hippo tangs at Pacific Reef, Ah beng. At least 7-8 fishes each.
  12. Thanks everyone for the reply. I am setting up a reef tank with easy to keep soft corals. I will have more fishes in the new tank other than the 2 tangs. I am thinking to convert my previous tank to a quarantine tank but what do u guys need to do when the fishes are under quarantine? Do I need to use copper or hyposalinity for all new fishes in quarantine tank?
  13. Some of the items that I am going to use for the tank.
  14. Hi Guys, I am currently setting up my 3.5ft tank. This is my 3rd marine tank and I hope this will be my last. I removed my partition wall for my house and replaced it with this new tank. I previously started with a 3ft planted tank and got really bored after my mini 10litre tank was doing well. i then engaged Aquarium Artist vincent to do up a 42cm cube and that tank went on for 1year plus, reaching 2 years. The cube is still running and I will decomm after the main tank is stable. The new tank is 3.5ft x 1.5ft x 2ft Height. With Aquarium Artist's BFV system. Will only know how silent or noisy it is once the top cabinet and the side doors are fixed this weekend. So excited!! Equipment: Maxspect 15000k 160w Bubble Magus Curve 7 Eheim 1260 Jebao RW-8 wavemaker Caribsea Life Rock 17kg , and my current live rock. Caribsea Fiji Pink 40lbs just arrived today! Red Sea Coral Pro salt mix I am going to only keep easy corals as I do not have a chiller and don't want to have the additional cost, heat and sound in the house.
  15. Actually coming this morning but vincent could not make it, so come tomorrow morning!
  16. It is not tough to setup a marine tank once you are familiar with what you are doing. I started with a very small 10 litre tank with a huge eheim liberty 200 filter. The tank is like a washing machine when set to max. I do water change weekly and I only have 2 clownfish a cleaner shrimp, mushroom corals, RBTA, GSP and some Zoas. Corals were not doing well with my Aquaponic and I decided to try a maxspect nano on this tank. It was overkill but the corals started to grow! I used tapwater and red sea coral pro salt for water change and for a small tank like mine, I found out that parameter swing is really drastic. The salinity will drop 0.002 like every week which I feel isn't really good for my fishes and corals. All survived for 3 months and I decided that it was time to give them a proper home and maintaining a marine aquarium should not be too hard. I then decided to contact Aquarium Artist to custom make a proper 1.5ft cube in my living room. I used the china bubble magus curve 5 as it is the most affordable protein skimmer and I only use an ANS fan to cool the tank and now, I just change my tank water once every 2 weeks with salt mix. I will siphon out a pail from my sump and pour back a pail of salt mix back. My yellow tang was with me the longest since I started my tank and he eat and shits the most. I only dose 1 capful of seachem carbonate once a week to ensure KH is enough for corals to grow. I am still using tap water for water change as it is the most convenient but I will not recommend it if you are keeping corals and I have rowaphos placed in media bags in my sump to reduce phosphates. Anyway, I am now waiting for my 3.5ft tank to arrive this Sunday from Aquarium Artist again as I have just decommission my 3 ft planted tank! Lastly, most reefers here are helpful and they will help you out when you encounter any problem.
  17. I am not an expert and have been running my tank for close to 2 years. I am using the maxspect nano and running at 60% white and 85% blue daily for 8 hours from 3.30pm to 11.30pm. I prefer more blue as I can see the corals fluoresce and I believe blue light can penetrate deeper into the tank.
  18. Hi guys, I am setting up a 3.5ft tank and was thinking to add yellow tang and blue regal tang to my new fish tank. I was thinking since both these fishes are prone to ich, can I do hyposalinity for this 2 fishes in the new tank for 6 weeks and after that, I will start adding live rock and sand to the tank so this will ensure they are completely ich free? I will then add the live rock and from my old tank and add in new live sand. Can I have your views please, thanks.
  19. Hi guys, I have been running the maxspect nano on my 1.5ft cube with the 120 degrees lens with the new 15000k light pads around 6 mths ago. As i am in the process of upgrading to a 3ft tank, i changed the current nano back to my old 90 degrees lens with the 16000k led pads and I am running A 50% and B 80%. I noticed that my monti started growing with white rims around within a week. I have not change anything except for the lights. I suspect the slow growth could be due to the 120 degree lens n the 15000k light pads. Could it be the lights at the same setting for the 15000k led pad is too bright and I need to lower it or it is not bright enough and I have to increase it? Nothing have changed in my tank except for the change of light pads. Appreciate your advise, thanks!
  20. Hi bro, thanks! Anyway after browsing through their site, I notice this minimax reactor. Seems quite convenient to replace the GFOs as I am currently running them in media bags and my 3ft tank will be ready in about a month! Any inputs on the minimax reactors?
  21. I saw this product on youtube and ebay and quite like it as I always throw the frozen mysis shrimp into my tank. Anyone knows if I can get it in Singapore as ebay is selling quite expensive. Thanks in advance!
  22. Some updates, still no sign of coralline algae on tank walls. I only see red algae on the rocks and those could be coralline. Diatoms continue to grow every 4-5 days due to the tap water and also could be due to me running a fan instead of chiller. Water temp hover between 28-29 degrees. I started using rowaphos this weekend and place it in a media bag in my sump as it has been sitting in my store room for a year, haha. I also just ordered a par38 red/blue led to try out cheato in my sump. Hopefully the light set can arrive by next week. Anyone knows is ah beng sell Cheato?
